I just learned that the Archos 7 'home tablet' does use Android as the OS. Of course, it's only ver1.5. Methinks it would benefit largely from 2.2.<br><br>Also add a capacitive screen to my list of requests. And I've rethought things and would like the stock android interface (hopefully allowing this device to receive updates more easily).<br><br>I *love* the included matte screen. This is something that should be much more common. Besides the Chinese one could not play mp4 smoothly (only 3gp). A fast processor<br>2. Native Android (No fancy skins to chew up processing power)<br>3. Access to the full Android market<br>4. I don't know about you, but in 2010 I think people expect a UI that is nice to look at. Even now, when they support more free Codecs than Apple's products, we still see negative comments about charging for Codecs.<br><br>We must remember this is an entry device at a great price.  For browsing, and video playback it is excellent. An Archos plays all the things that an iPad can't or won't. If anything, any Archos needs to do it's own thing better and not try to pretend to be an iPad.<br><br>An Archos can always use more storage, a larger screen and even more robust format support. An Archos should make an ION based machine green with envy. For a home tablet, that's a handy thing to have if you've got High Def tuners in your PVR or BD rips in your media centre.<br><br>Wasting CPU cycles on something like AirVideo is for the birds and is probably too "geeky" for grandma.<br><br>The Archos media player is actually quite good. I would not "fix" it.
