People wanted the Droid without ever seeing it, it did such a good job at "waking up the market" like they intended.<br><br>The ad that started it all...<br><br>I'm a little nervous Verizon is going to weaken the Droid brand. It seems every month now they're releasing a new Droid with a campaign about how it's the coolest thing ever. After a while, the message gets old and it's clear that Droids are very common and not as awesome as Verizon claims if there needs to be a new one every couple of months.<br><br>Calm down, Verizon. I love what you've done for Android, but you need to calm down. AMOLED, bigger screens, Sense, Stock, and Ninjablur. Slide-out keyboards or 4.3 inch screens. There's only been 4 phones (released as of tomorrow). I think it's a tad exaggerating to say that the brand will become old. The line-up is iterative of the two companies every 4-6 months at least. <br><br>Right now we have the Droid X. Coming soon will be the original's successor. Then I believe Verizon will be riding pretty high from then on; and if HTC wants to jump in with another by years end, then so be it. I wouldn't say the brand might become diluted. All three fullfill a smartphone category. You got the slider, the normal touch screen, and now the behemoth power house. How do they determine what gets branded as a Droid phone and what does not? The Devour and the Ally(which you forgot) do not have the Droid branding but the Eris(Hero) did. I wonder if Verizon's version of the Samsung Galaxy S will get Droid branding. What makes it even more confusing is when people refer to any of them(usually the original Motorola Droid) as "the Droid phone." Apple's iconic "Hello" advertisement was created to set the mood for the release of the device. While Apple's ad portrayed that they were reinventing our ways of communicating, Moto is trying to say that their device is futuristic. I don't agree, but that's the image that they're working to create. The phone was finalized before Froyo was released, so they didn't really have time to get Froyo on it by the launch date. They said they will get an update for it soon, so they are trying.
