Firefox Home for iPhone bows in the App Store
Alright, we know that playing with the Firefox 4 beta has been a full-time job for you Mozilla fanboys and girls out there, but let's try something fresh on for size, shall we? Firefox Home has finally been whisked into the App Store on news that Apple gave it the green light, meaning you can now sync your bookmarks and open tabs between your desktop and your phone. Some of us can go a few minutes without browsing the web in the off chance we're away from our PCs... aw, who are we kidding? No we can't -- and neither can you, so you may as well grab it if you're using Firefox and an iPhone.

give me that thing at the bottom and no one gets hurt....
@NuklearPanda Lol That skin is horrible. makes the phone look strange. At first glance, I said to myself "what the fuck is that?" Looked like actual buttons for a second.
@pufflye You do. Opera Mini 5, but that's about it for choice of browsers on iOS...
@NuklearPanda
noone cares, IE is better than safari or firefox. if you ever used ie on windows phone 7, you would notice it is way better with sub-pixel positioning, and a better UI
@MicrosoftOwns
No.
@MicrosoftOwns
funny thing is, windows 7 phone hasnt come out yet.
so.. xP
btw. IE is the slowest browser on pc/mac.
@prewreckless Opera mini sucks for iPhone, safari is better, and great, we don't need a new browser, just make safari mobile better, and can someone please explain to me the point of this app? Is it a full browser? Or just a place to stare at your bookmarks and say "oh look engadget.com cool that's bookmarked...guess I'll go masturbate cause I'm bored"
@MicrosoftOwns
IE is better? Since when? I don't think there is a single modern browser on the market that doesn't outclass IE8.
@That guy 2
Yes, we do need a new browser. Safari is fine, but they really need to tune it up to improve it's stability. Besides, options are always better. The more competition, the faster things will improve. You can stick with Safari if you want, but those that prefer Firefox or Opera need to have them available.
@MicrosoftOwns
ie is good if you want to really piss of someone. Virus, spyware, ect...
Back to topic; I cannot find it in the app store.
@walbuyarget
Try the iTunes source link in the article. Failing that, maybe your tubes are clogged. Clean the goombas out and try again later.
@MicrosoftOwns
ie is the most insecure piece of shit ever!!!
chrome, firefox, opera and safari are all so much better, the only reason is the most used browser is because most people dont care
ie doesnt give you a warning if the site is a known fraudulent site!
i like customization which is why i like firefox, chrome is too personalized and safari i dont like how the exit and minimize buttons are on the other side its too weird
anyway IE SUCKS
@Dafrety
not a single browser? go look up safari security holes or phishing protection and then get back at me.
btw ie8 is faster than any other browser. A lot of Firefox and Chrome advocates like to cling to micro-benchmarking page load claims to measure browser speed. But in most cases, these differences can only be viewed by slow-motion video captures, and they just don't represent real world examples.
@MicrosoftOwns I'll admit that I'm a hardcore Microsofty... but IE sucks. I've been using Firefox for a long time now because IE sucks. I will admit that IE9 is a great new beginning for IE, but that's about it (for now, at least). IE is NOT fast. On the same computer with the same 15 Mbps connection, it takes at least 15 seconds LONGER to download/render/display the SAME page in IE than it does in Firefox 3.6.6 (which does it in about 3 seconds). And don't even get me started on standards compliance. IE7 gets a 13/100 and 8 gets a 20? At least Firefox 3.6.6 gets a 94. And, as for IE Mobile, I love my ZuneHD a hell of a lot more than I ever loved my iPods, but IE Mobile is a very slow, anemic browser. On the same network as my PC, it takes 30 seconds longer to load the same page. And it's not that fast with mobile pages, either. My V9x often loads mobile pages much faster than my Zune. Try telling me IE is fast one more time, "because it's not google." (Yeah, you gave yourself away with the sub-pixel positioning technology comment that you used with your last two usernames.) Yes, sub-pixel positioning technology is pretty cool, but it doesn't make up for the weak rendering engine.
@That guy 2
yes opera mini is a dumb browser for a smartphone and smartbrowser for a dumb phone............whereas safari is smart browser for a smart phone
@MicrosoftOwns

First of all, quoting Microsoft's own propaganda isn't winning you any points. How can IE8 be faster if it's always bench marked slower? Never mind the fact that IE's standards compliance is horrible.
@NuklearPanda
- No add-ons
- No future Mozilla JS improvements
- no plug-in wrapper for improved stability
- no Flash
Thanks Apple for restricing one of the most versatile browsers to a complete stub on iPhone.
Useless.
@prewreckless
What year are you from? there are loads of browsers out for iOS..
Safari
Opera
A1 Perfect browser (Horrible name)
Life
iCab
and others
@NuklearPanda
There will be no FF for any of the iPhone range, big brother Apple has already stated that it won't allow the Mozilla JavaScript engine on its platforms. Use the Safari one or nothing. There is not even one being developed because of this restriction.
@prewreckless There are others: Atomic, for one. It has built-in ad blocking, tabs, gestures, etc.
@Prospero Yup, even though those browsers (except opera) all use UIWebView, so the rendering engine is essentially the same as Mobile Safari, there are tons of features they add outside of the webview area, custom plugins, filters, ad blocking, downloading, private browsing, etc...
@pufflye
Well at least there is Opera. It's a start.
@pufflye No, you'd rather bitch about how you can't do anything on it.
@MicrosoftOwns
What kind of weed do you smoke? Can I buy some pot from you?
@MicrosoftOwns IE is the worst browser out of the top five. They went from doing big things such as ajax and then they fell off. As i see it Microsoft should have THE best browser out there but it is the worst. It doesn't support a damn thing and it renders things differently than all the other browsers. Webkit is where it is at by far, which is why one reason chrome is getting so big. I like safari but it is to plain for me.
@Dafrety ha i think ie is the last browser i want to use.
@That guy 2
Yeah exactly what I thought!
Now I just need Chrome for iPhone and I'll be satisfied.
@LegoGuy23 with extensions ;)
@LegoGuy23
Agreed. Chrome FTW!
@LegoGuy23
I don't own an android device, so I'll have to ask: does the chrome bookmark synch work on the androids?
@eddib
No :( I wished
I don't see it. Firefox Home??
@Darth Stewie
I don't either. Maybe they pulled it down. IDK :(
@LegoGuy23
Search for Mozilla, that's how I found it
@Darth Stewie
I'm not seeing it either.
@Darth Stewie
It took a couple searches to find it. Tried Firefox, tried Mozilla, tried Firefox 1 more time and selected the auto suggestion for Firefox sync and it came up in the list.
@MeVirtually Thanks... got it!
@heathmaxie Thanks!
@EA575 Thanks for the link. I thought I found it but it still doesn't show via any of the mentioned search options. Link worked though and that's good enough for me! :)
@heathmaxie Thanks. :) I found it now.
Yea me neither
Was this really worth an Engadget update?
@Slack813 Man is there any kind of post that doesn't trigger this question? How the hell is another browser's ecosystem (even in part) making it's way into the (crumbling) walled garden not news?
Even on open platforms like Ubuntu how often do you see live cross browser syncing stuff? I short this is proper news for a tech/gadget site.
@Slack813
Why don't you guys create your own site, ALREADY.
I think the real point in this article was for Engadget to show off their gameboy like skin. Well played..
I dont see it
don't see it in the app store.

My earlier comment is gone! Engadget censoring comments? WTF?
