Not to mention that iTunes is actually more or less integrated into the OS itself, and Finder is just the filesystem browser. You saying those programs opening up and running quickly on a Mac is like me saying opening folders and Windows Media Player is really fast on my PC. <br><br>We're talking about iTunes on Windows here. Which is really, really slow. Hell, it opens up in around the same time as freakin' Photoshop CS3 on my laptop. Especially if you try doing multiple things at once, like if you go and try to buy and app while you iPhone is being backed up in the background. GodFinger on the iPhone comes close but it's not quite so bad. Apple should do the decent thing and rewrite the Windows version of itunes from the ground up. Get rid of the "Adobe type" bloat, the background services, the installers and respect the Windows UI to the letter. With their market share in music downloads there's no excuse. Fanboys never seem to read posts.<br><br>And your next point regarding iTunes intergrating itself with the browser is silly.<br><br>I don't know how tightly it is integrated, but it just points to sloppy programming. It's as bad as Microsoft arguing that Internet Explorer is an "integral" part of their operating system. It's not  - OSes don't provide a browser, they provide an interface between the bare-level hardware and other software applications, APIs, etc. Nowhere in OS theory does it say, Thou shalt provide a browser, or an audio player.<br><br>Either way, the Windows port of iTunes has historically been a shonky job. Perhaps Apple just doesn't care *that* much about Windows to invest any serious effort? *shrugs*. Who knows.<br><br>Then again, some people have their doubts on their programming prowess anyway. See their intial efforts with submitting Webkit patches back to the KHTML team.<br><br>Also, your last point about Windows Media Player - that's ridiculous. That's like saying Microsoft has a top-secret, super-fast path to open a file browser, that it lets it's own programs use, then other generic programs use a slower one. Do you realise how silly that sounds?<br><br>Go read up on MSDN, and look at the API they expose.
