There is something to be said for consistency though. Although I don't think it would hurt RIM to try something new and different I do understand that there is a core demographic of users out there that want and ONLY want a Blackberry and have grown accustomed to and probably love this form factor.

Why get rid of it all together? Because the smartphone market has changed dramatically in the last few years, as in - aesthetics/features count with consumers, and RIM appears not to be taking this fact into consideration wit their newer releases.

I gave up my blackberry tour for an EVO and it's superior in every way EXCEPT for the social networking and messaging apps. Facebook is particularly heinous. My niece would rather die than to have to give up BBM. Not to mention the qwerty, which is better than all others.
