Engadget's more recent review has me questioning whether I want it or not. I just want 2.2 so badly on it, and I'm not sure I can wait for it. I also wish they would make it more portrait-friendly and simplify the keyboard experience, as opposed to the complicated iteration currently available.

The keyboard is also easily replaceable with something else if you don't like Dell's keyboard - "SwiftKey", for instance.

Some things are trivially fixed by yourself because it's Android (in comparison, iPhone doesn't allow apps that modifies any built-in functionality). Faster but cruder is not better. The Droid X is very fast. But all that UI animation and movement where things appear from all directions is very distracting to say the least.

Plus 2 major problems with Android so far are it's lack of capability as a gaming platform. I can bet the iPad or even iPhone will blow this thing away and the lack of a decent media player. Crappy flash performance can't make up for the lack of integration with a store like iTunes, or apps like Hulu and Netflix. Not just that, but the media player interface just isn't as elegant as the iPod.

Android devices are good for one thing only and that is as a web browser. If you want a web browser, then this is a great product. Although, the way the Safari browser fits content on the iPad is awesome.

So speed isn't everything if the UI isn't up to mark and the apps are not as well implemented.

I can see the odd ball techie buy this. I don't think it's going to sell too well because the pinnacle of the hype around this device was back in like Q1 or Q2 of 2010 and then they launched in only one country.... which soured many. Add the release of other Android devices to choose from (although mostly CDMA) and the lack of communication from Dell and you have a not so stellar product launch.

I think the sweet spot for these devices has yet to be settled on, but the trend is toward bigger regardless. Even a device as sleek as the iPhone 4 gets bulky with its mandatory case; when I saw my buddy's in his case, I couldn't believe how close in size it was to my naked Evo (which can actually be used naked).
