It is not for wealthy people but bringing the poor masses into the fold in an affordable way. With the Nano, it was not exactly the poor (because gas is expensive). But it was still targeted to a diff audience. Not being racist. India is one of the richest countries in the world and something like 20 <br>% of IT jobs in the use are hired from India or regions round about there.  <br>Ill give you that they have obviously different reasons for their product, apple's is for profit, while these guys are really trying to make a product for the masses. America is not more advanced then the mid east. Google Dubai if you don't believe me. I think this is amazing. I think you'll find this has four times as much RAM as the iPad.  RAM can be used as cache to make devices faster and more responsive and is especially useful if you want multitasking.  The iPad is a posers' toy.  Cool device to toy with but a posers' toy. You didn't contribute much there. You were just born lucky. Why would you try to be pompous about something you didn't? I was born in a very, very average income family in India, worked hard in my life, got into the best engineering. school in India without tuitions (didn't have money) and then started earning more than $80,000 at the age of 23 IN INDIA (not a bad deal in India). I take a lot of pride in that. (2GB of Mobile DRAM would be around $100. I don't know of any ARM chips that even support 2GB of RAM)<br>WiFI = $5<br>Flash memory = $5<br>Power management = $2<br>PCB = $5<br>Touch screen / audio CODEC = $2<br>7" LCD with resistive touch = $20<br>Discrete components = $5<br>Connectors = $4<br>Battery = $3<br>Casing = $3<br>Assembly and testing charge = $10<br>Subtotal = $102<br>You'll lose about 3% of these things in manufacture, so it's effectively about $105.<br>And then you'll need a box and manuals and cables and chargers. Except they have no buying history so why would anybody subsidise them and sell stuff well below manufacturing costs? Margins on components aren't exactly huge.<br><br>If the Indian government is sponsoring it, then it's not a $35 tablet so they haven't actually invented anything.<br><br>These guys are welcome to prove me wrong but, er, they won't.
