It's an All-in-One, you need to stop comparing it with regular desktops. Have you seen HP and Sony's AIO offers? Pitiful specs for similar price points (in the UK at least).

The Acer AZ5700 that's $999.99 at Costco has a Core i5 3.2Ghz, touchscreen, and tv tuner on a touchscreen 23" panel.
There's also HP models for similar prices like the 600t ($999.99 for a 23" with Core i3 at 2.26Ghz).
