But for those looking for a good deal I'd suggest a Dell. They also offer some e-IPS and H-IPS displays, I personally have a U2211H which I got for around $260. If you look for some of their older models you can also get a decent deal on a 30" for example, but basically Apple actually is very competitive with their larger displays when it comes to the latest IPS monitors. This is also because of the volume they can sell, where as Dell for example also offers TN displays for much cheaper and very few customers care/know enough to go for an IPS option

JohnTitor

Comments on

@Programmer
The Apple logo on *computers* has become a taboo of sorts, it's almost non-existent.

furquanatique

Comments on

@Programmer

It's apple baby, you know iPad creators, and iPhone creators that combined sold over 6 million in a matter of about 1 to 2 months.

Dredayxi85

Comments on

@Indefinite Implosion
Apple products are reasonably priced for a month or so, then everyone else slashes prices because something new is out and Apple refuses to refresh their product line.

devoinregress

Comments on

@statickeith its the apple tax, the price of a pc wuth the same specs multiplied by 1.5 to get apple price

23542354

Comments on

@Programmer Ita ok Maybe one day when you become a real programmer you can afford one. Only one monitor offered, one aspect ratio, one finish (glossy) and one connectivity option (mini DisplayPort). I'm good with the fact they opt for IPS all around, but I don't understand why they wouldn't want to give their customers a choice depending on their budget. 21.5", 24" and 27" ACD would all sell, most of us would be glad to have a matching ACD with their MBP and/or Mac Mini.

Apple does absolutely nothing to make me buy my first ACD, I'll stick with my equally expensive NEC, it's not matching the design of my computer but I can choose it's resolution, screen (matte) and connectivity options. Simplifying their supply chain would actually mean a huge cost savings to them ( not to mention inventory, support and manufacturing costs ) and with them swimming in cash, I guess they can say, we can afford not offering the whole gamut of screen sizes.

For example, look at their computers.
