Once it has that, it can map what's on the screen to the textures of the 3D model, and then render that model from two slightly different points of view. Along with support for 3D channels (we watched the recent World Cup games on it...and yes we wore the glasses) it also does 2D to 3D on the fly for regular channels. And in what context?  Movies? TV?  Gaming?  Consumer generated content?  Sounds like a good topic for an Engadget survey.<br><br>I ask this because I say meh the whole idea of consumer-end 3D.   We're still barely scratching the surface on supplying 1080p content. My impression is that the whole 3D "craze" is being driven not by consumer interest, but instead by Asian manufacturers obsessed with one-upping each other.  <br><br>What's next?
