NVIDIA teased us with the introduction of the 3D-ready G51JX back at
Computex (you may remember it as one of the founding "
3D PCs"), and now AVADirect is bringing that very machine to US soil. Said rig boasts a 15.6-inch display, Core i7-720QM processor, 6GB of DDR3 memory and a 1GB GeForce GTS 360M GPU. Better still, Clevo's W860CU offers an identically sized display, NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 285M (1GB), Core i5 or i7 CPU options and 8GB of DDR3 RAM. Both units ship with all the necessary
3D Vision components to get your 3D kick on right from the box, with the
ASUS going for around $1,600 and the Clevo for $1,800. Humility is free with purchase, we're told.

That would be a battery drain!
Don't see the point in 3d on a laptop
@maribo
Gaming.
It's a TRAP!
The Asus has been available for a quite while and to my knowledge, the Clevo hasn't yet been sold by a reseller yet or as barebones to consumers. I'm still waiting for Clevo's X7200 to be released and sold :-D
Now you can get Rickroll'd in glorious 3-d!
This has been available to US soil for about a month Engadget. Oh, and also...stop acting like you're in bed with Clevo. It's getting annoying.
Is that a mouse or some wireless receiver?
@System
Looks like the ir transmitter for the shutter glasses.
I'm going to buy a 3D laptop when it costs the same as a regular laptop. No matter how long that is from now, i'm in no hurry to get 3D anyway.
@GGG
Well then you'll wait forever, because a 3D laptop will always cost more than a similarly spec'd laptop without 3D. It's like saying you'll buy a laptop with an SSD when it costs the same as a laptop without an SSD - never.
@tonicboy
I wouldn't know about the SSDs, the general trend seems to show they are getting closer to HDDs in price, i wouldn't be surprised if they will be cheaper per terabyte of space in 10 years. After all they have no complicated moving parts.
As for 3D i think it's going to become a standard feature and you won't be able to get a screen or TV without it. just like you can't get a big TV without an HD resolution now. And the price difference will be negligible once the economy of scale kicks in.
I'm pretty sure I'll be skipping this generation of glasses-much 3D hardware.
@TareG
My thoughts too. But somehow I get the feeling my war against this 3D tech is going to be a hard one to win.
I tried it in Computex this year. 3D WoW looks quite impressive.
Don't many gamers wear prescription glasses? You know... cause they play too much gaemz and it's killing their eyes.
3D glasses on top of prescription glasses > big no-no.
Only 20-20 vision people can wear stuff like these. And a good portion of this who claim they're 20-20 are delusional and refuse to wear glasses even if their eyes are slowing rotting away.
Is it active shutter becuase I saw an acer stand and it had a "3d" laptop with the ladder technology from the 90's I was just wondering because I hear, well actually I know, that the active shutter technology on the panny amazing. On the other hand I hear horrible things about samsung led. I was wondering what the color is like as well as the 3d tech.
