By that time they will be set to release newer phones, to which their firmware support efforts will have to be redirected. The Samsung-Firmwares website (and all of its mutations) is not not official. <br><br>By the way, the Galaxy i7500 has been released with a buggy 1.5, and support stopped a few months back with a buggy 1.6 as the last official firmware. They say the hardware cannot support 2.1. As of now there is a 2.2 community rom alpha merged with CyanogenMods FroYo branch goodness, which is daily usable. The Galaxy S already easily meets the minimum Gingerbread specs, and so worst case even if we don't get 3.0 from Samsung, we'll get it from somewhere.  <br><br>Also, old news but Samsung is already working on a Galaxy S 2, which will supposedly have a 4.3" AMOLED screen. Also pathetic that it takes several months for Samsung to cook a 2.2 update when all 5 Galaxy S phones are so similar. After the Omnia debacle I won't be getting a samsung device period. As much as people love to hate on Apple, an almost no questions asked year warranty and OS updates are the same day for everyone, even two year phones. Also 3 year old phones if you feel like JB. But I suppose you could also get the Android updates sooner if you wanted to root.
