How about a truck is crossing the lane right as the bus is driving by? How about a truck just crashed into that right railing and bent in in, now when the bus goes to drive by, it hits the railing. Large trucks can't even fit under it, but have to go around. The bus hits a 2 lane road and no trucks can get past it! The list goes on and on. I mean it's already two lanes wide... There are already all sorts of distractions while driving giant moving ads, vehicles so tall that it's just a wall to many drivers, I'll wait until I see it before I automatically nay say it. Heck humans were never designed to move over 10 mph, I'm sure 60 was pretty disorienting for a lot of people, but were used to it.

But it would be really cool for places like SD and LA where it's not really feasible to rebuild all of the roads to support something like this to build metro systems on top of the freeways and major roads... Especially since we can't really build outward anymore on a lot of the freeways cuz there's no room and well in this day and age of green a metro system would probably be a better choice... Combine that with loads of zip car stations at the metro stops to get people the last mile and you could solve a lot of problems...

Dalton Atlas

Comments on

@TheCake

"It's only a model."
- Patsy

Um...TE

Comments on

@pirana Disorienting can be fixed easily by having lights that display arrows running the opposite direction with the traffic and speeds up as the bus moves faster. This is very unlikely to happen here, not just because of lousy METRO, but Houston's a tough city to even build a good public transport system. Everything's pretty spread out once you leave downtown, the weather is often hot and humid to wait at a station with no AC or sometimes even no shelter, there are a good number of bad drivers here, and they'd have to battle with the general perception around here that mass transit is something for the poor, criminal immigrant types.

That's why I kinda miss Vancouver.
