The COLORS are fantastic.  But no, the Kindle is a good eReader.  I can't consider purchasing one though. I find my eyes are strained from looking at the screen when little light is available. iPad backlight goes extremely low and doesn't bother me a bit. Sadly people will continue to ask for games and other fluff and multimedia features, and Amazon and other companies will most likely provide them.
