Which is pretty much what video calling on windows live messenger or skype is wouldn't you say? Actually Apple made FaceTime a free and open standard. Anyone can use it to integrate video phone calls into their system/software.

Not the same as an MSN/Yahoo video chat. This is an actual phone call to an actual telephone, with video. However it does have the ability to seamlessly integrate and switch to a computer video chat. For example if Skype chose to integrate FaceTime it could call an iPhone 4 -like calling any other phone- but would have video included. The iPhone won't need to launch its Skype app to exchange video feed with the caller.
