HTC Schubert: Windows Phone 7 gets an aluminum unibody handset to call home? (video)
And the Windows Phone 7 leaks just keep on flowing. After that mysterious ASUS pre-production unit we saw late last week, today we're being treated to the first sighting of the HTC Schubert. Purportedly a device planned for "day one" of the WP7 revolution, the Schubert is said to have been built using a single piece of aluminum (just like the Legend) with plastic cutouts in the back allowing for that all-important wireless connectivity. Not much else is known for now -- hell, there's no way to even confirm this phone is who it says it is -- but the video's right after the break.

Wow I WANT!!!!
Hey guys, my shift, H, T, C, F, W, and 1 keys on my computer keyboard are wearing out. What shall I do??
HTC FTW!!!
@HerbieDerb come up with a new joke
@Relief2010
Nice design! Another awesome phone HTC!
@HerbieDerb
HOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOT.
Now, this doesn't look very high-end-ish.
I'm waiting for a 4.3 inch S-AMOLED WP7 device from any manufacturer.
COMEON! Whose gonna be first to grab my money! :)
@Relief2010 That thing looks goooood
@Relief2010 Is that a xenon flash? The device looks quite sexy to me!
@Evan
Come up with a real comment
@Mike10010100
does anyone else see what looks to be a xenon flash?
@Relief2010 ahh the HTC Schubert.. i can't wait for the Mozart, Tchaikovsky,Bach, and Brahms
new motif we're having! all jokes aside.. I'm excited for when these drop so I can see what the potential of Windows Phone 7 really is
@spartandre217
It looks like it! It also looks like they updated the design/casing of the Nexus One and went wild!
Make an Android version too and there are sure to be even more buyers! I know that I would buy this design in a heartbeat.
@iroydude
Go enjoy your HTC Mozart,
while I enjoy the sexiest looking device to mankind.
HTC Gaga.
@Mike10010100
My major worries,
1. What that shininess will look like after 2 months without using a case.
2 WP7 not being a flop
Otherwise I think it's a smashing design.
The general body shape is reminiscent of the Nexus One but the styling's something totally different
@Revolutionary You mean HTC Jolie, right?
@spartandre217
I agree with you on the Windows Phone 7 bit, and I really hope it does well, because this is a beautiful piece of hardware.
I think it looks rather rugged, don't you? Doesn't seem too shiny or fragile.
@spartandre217
scratch that,
third worry, where is the micro-usb port???
Or any data port for that matter?
@Mike10010100
I think it could probably survive drops without issues. Micro-scratches like on the older iPods was ruinous though :-(
@Relief2010
I think HTC's blue over white looks a lot better than the other color configurations of WP7... easily the most elegant in my book.
However, it does look pretty useless compared to Android's...
@spartandre217
I can only assume that it's hidden in the shadows of the darker bottom half of that first shot.
We need those specs, though, that's for sure.
Wow.... reminds me so much of the original Samsung Omnia... How creative of HTC.
@Mike10010100
It probably won't support HDMI out, thats for sure lol.
Looks pretty decent though.
I've noticed recently though that the majority of HTC's phones
(Evo, Desire HD) (Desire and Nexus 1) are pretty reminiscent of one another. They seem to release a basic design then build as many using the general design as possible.
@Relief2010 Hope they didn't choose form over function. That antenna better in the right spot. Otherwise, beautiful.
@spartandre217
Haven't you listened to any i*hone4 users? No one uses a phone without a case!! So it doesn't matter.
Side note: I've used my droid since last nov without a case, drop it, but it never drops calls ;)
That design ... yuck!
Seriously the HTC Legend with the all aluminium-silver body, angular chin and a trackball was a win.
@normanb20
I'm sorry, but if I buy a phone for the looks AND functionality, I have little intention of shoving it in a case thereby depriving me of admiring it.
The people you refer to can properly f*** off if you ask me. *grumbles to self*
@statickeith I'm still waiting for the htc nilay
@hammydbest that's what she said.
@hammydbest It looks like an iPhone 3G
@BallastatuzX
It looks like a Nexus One. Exactly! I'm glad we agree.
@TareG That's not a HTC thing, any phone can do it, so whoever shot the video probably chose it.
You choose a theme, black or white background + an accent colour.
@statickeith Not everybody loves silicone lips.
@Revolutionary
The only thing disgusting about HTC Gaga is its name
@Relief2010 I'm kind of bummed - the screen looks much smaller than I would have liked. I was hoping it would come with a 4.3" screen! I'm glad the camera doesn't burst out of the back like it does on the EVO but I was really hoping for a really big display and maybe a tad thinner. Hopefully it will boast a redicuously long battery life since it is so thick - like 2 full days with BT and push enabled.
@Relief2010 This is the phone that was leaked on the T-mobile 2010 roadmap its dated to be released on 11-17-10 http://www.cnet.com/8301-19736_1-20009904-251.html
@jdog25 Just as I was getting excited you drop the sad news. Where's the sprint love? I hope samsung has something nice in store for sprint and WP7. I'm feeling the super amoled screens way better that anything HTC is doing, even SLCD.
@darkmax Wow your right it's a rectangle, how silly of them to make it that shape because it's not like every other good phone in the world has that shape right?
@Evan
How do you change the battery though?? Don't tell me Microsoft is following suit again like Apple and making it non-swappable...... I really hope not...
@CarlosMobile I'm not a Windows mobile 7 or Sprint hater but I'm waiting for the true successor to the Nexus One and even though I'm covered in Sprint's 4G T-mobile is still way better in Houston because its cheaper, 3x faster, has the best Android phone(in my opinion), and has way more coverage then Sprint's 4G. If I were going to switch it would be to Sprint when they get a better 4G network and take off the stupid 4G charge.
@TareG That's not HTC's, it's just an option on the phone. You can change the theme. The default theme to WP7 is black and blue though.
Why is that video three times longer than it needs to be?
@Devin this silence should show how good this phone is : D
@Devin Because we can't get enough of it!
the front part is smexy..
but the back? kinda like megatron.. if you catch my drift
@Autobots I rather have the "HTC Megan Fox"
@Autobots It's one of the most beautiful phones that HTC ever made. The back design is very creative.
@Icebird Creative does not equal good.
woah
I am not sure what to make of the back side
@Cynical Hippie
They're just trying to make it look different I think. At least it's better than the HTC Diamond, that was a horrible idea.
@WixosTrix
I'm sorry the Diamond was one of the best industrial designs for a mobile device I have ever seen, it felt so precious in the hand.
