Maybe a kids' birthday party? At least you wouldn't have to pay outlandish prices for all those drinks, candy and popcorn at the concession stand.

I dunno. I don't think I'd ever pay that. I have a 50" plasma, but it's minuscule compared to a movie screen. My local theater is $10.50 for adults and $7.50 for kids (and that is one of the cheaper ones). A family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) would be $43.50 before candy/soda/popcorn etc. I agree that $50 is a pretty shocking up front price. Movies that are still in theaters (or still in that release window) are available in hotels for the same price of a ticket to a theater.

They have to stop being greedy. If you add that and a screen to your home, paying $25 to $50 for 4 people to watch a REAL first run movie (like Ironman 2 or Harry Potter) would soon become very enticing for some people.
