HTC Desire HD surfaces on Amazon UK, gets pulled in record time
And this, folks, pretty much seals the deal. If HTC bothers to not ship the Desire HD, it'll come as quite the surprise. You know -- given that we've seen leaked specifications, an image from Mr. Blurrycam and even a behind-the-scenes video of it. Now, however, we've got a product listing on Amazon's UK branch to focus on, which prices the handset at £415 ($650). The only other detail gleaned from the page is the "Ace" codename, but given that the whole thing has since been yanked, it's impossible to know what else was hidden in the code. Still, we highly doubt HTC would bother passing on phone information to Amazon with no intention of ever officially introducing it, you know? Yeah, you know.

I would love a Desire HD.
@techee44 Hell, I think everybody would!
@techee44 Do you DESIRE one?
@Colours
Boooooooo
@techee44
£415 outright? That's bloody cheap, here's hoping it's legit later on!
@SomEngangVar
I would travel as far as the Amazon to get a Desire HD.
oooo that was bad
@techee44
Mesa would also love a Desire HD.
The force unleashed left you in carbonite on Kashyyk! Stay there!
Where art thou lord Vader?? Force assassinate!
@Colours
Owning one would be just ACE.
Because its really... um... HTC...
I guess this will be the main topic during HTC's event (yeap the same phone behind smoke, remember?)
@enaybee
Took the words right from under my fingertips.
@triplevision
well if you hadn't left your fingertips just lyin around, you could've said it first!
@enaybee idk, i think they might announce a wp7 phone.
Do Want!
i wish it was an apple product, then it would be called iDesire HD, which is cool because I am a HD fanatic!!!!
Where is my nexus two
@Cainhunpi
Hanging with the Courier.
Why oh why are overseas countries getting the good phones first. The U.S. has become a third world country when it comes to top of the line cell phones and thats a garbage policy! If this came to AT&T, I would pay $650 to have it. Time to upgrade my 3GS.
@Soldier1969 The US is hardly "third world" when it comes to handsets. We typically get first access from HTC & Moto. Apple too, but who cares about them :P
The Desire HD is just a GSM Evo. We had it first.
We had the Droid before they had the Milestone.
We have the DroidX & Droid 2, which they don't have.
We had the Palm Pre before them.
The only one in recent memory that they got first was the Galaxy S, and we got a better one of them with the Epic anyway.
@Soldier1969
you're kidding, right?? You guys have the HTC Evo 4G, the Samsung Epic 4G, the Droid X...just to name a few. So quit your whining, boy!
@Soldier1969 The US already has this phone: it's called the EVO 4G.
@geniusdog254 Except the Desire HD has the second-gen 1Ghz Snapdragon 8X55, meaning it has better battery life (45nm) and better GPU than the Evo.
@Zizagoo Where did you get the info on the gpu used and the process size for the processor?
Wasn't ace the codename of the Palm Treo 650?
Will. It. Come. To. Cana. Da?
@n11 in about three years, for exactly this price Canadian and.. oh, it will still be sim-locked to a carrier :P
Very shagadelic, but where is it?
Too bad the resolution isn't HD.
i have tested this prototype it is one word amazing. 720p is flawless.
HTC Desire HD=Iphone 4 pwnage
@triplevision
well if you hadn't left your fingertips just lyin around, you could've said it first!
@techee44
oh, crap downrank this idk why it posted twice :(
Isn't this the evo 4g on GSM? I need a nexus one replacement. I have a samsung captivate but its not a nexus two. Wouldn't mind the desire HD but rather wait for something with 1.2 or higher CPU and better gpu then galaxy s.
@durtypockets
Or the Android version of the HD2 depending on how you look at it. They're all 4.3" WVGA phones with 1GHz Snapdragons and 512MB of RAM by HTC. Give or take the same as far as everything else is concerned. It's a step up from the Nexus One in some ways, but it's very similar in others. If you just got the Captivate I would wait. The Galaxy S is on par with what the Desire HD looks to be.
I have to say the pricing of this handset if correct offers out standing value for money and it will be a big seller for HTC and Android. I also think the days when the US gets devices after the rest of the world are long gone in fact the only devices I can think of that launched recently slightly earlier elsewhere are the Samsung Galaxy S and the Dell Streak that launched in the UK first. How or why a US company did this even now I find very strange although I'm not complaining as it enabled me to get one as soon as I could. Now a days as pointed out by others there are quite a few devices that the US does get first and seeing as the US is leading the way for 4G I can see this trend continuing.
HTC Vision spotted too. £455.
@Me
Oh and apparently its called HTC Desire Z now. Not sure i approve but who cares, get it out asap!
@dansus
If it can make a Kamehameha then I allow it to use the Z.
@Guimo
Half naked hula girls? Ok, im sold.
It's strange how some of these unlocked retail smartphones are ridiculously expensive, while others are dirt cheap. I can get the Cliq ($300), X10 Mini ($300), MyTouch 3G ($340), Backflip ($360), HTC Hero ($400) and GSM Droid 1 ($400) all on Newegg right now, and while I know the Desire HD trumps them all by a long shot, does it really do so by $250-$350? I could get two smartphones for that price. That's crazy to me.
Yeah it does. Desire is the flagship. The ones you named are either sliw, ugly or having worse hardware
@kenny goo
You have to remember though that the price quoted on amazon UK will include tax (in the UK thats 17.5%). The Amazon price is close to the launch price of the original HTC Desire so it looks like this will just bump the original down one peg on the HTC rankings of their products may even mean its cheaper to buy the standard HTC Desire.
I actually saw at Best Buy some Zagg Sheilds for an HTC Ace.
does the uk version have us 3g bands?
Uuh new phone. I am so excited
What's the CPU and how much RAM has it got? Don't think I'll upgrade if it's same 1Ghz and 576MB as my Desire. 8MP cam won't bring much improvement anyway, HTC just can't make proper cams :(
@pmshake
Its the same as the n1 spec but bigger screen. Its not HD or higher quality then current phone. They just want to satisfied the GSM users since they covered cdma peeps
1.4kg?
@JimJam707
That, my friend, is the exact weight of awesomeness.
Hello,
Will HTC release this smartphone in Korea?
I am in Korea and I love HTC Desire HD very much.
Thanks,
