Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter shoots up XBLA on Sept. 22
Finally, fans left hanging at the conclusion of Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter can get a bit of closure on September 22, as Majesco has confirmed the launch date for Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter. If there's anything that these games are known for, it's their rich narrative and character development, so to leave us hanging like that is criminal. All jokes aside, we could all probably use a bit more of "shoot everybody and don't die" in our lives. Keeps you feeling young, you know?
Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter adds three new weapons -- the Sniper Rifle, Flamethrower and Chainsaw -- and co-op support for up to four players across 12 maps, including team-based and competitive modes. No price has been announced for The Second Encounter, though we suspect pricing will be in line with the first game: 1200 MS Points ($15).

'SERIOUS SAM HD: THE SECOND ENCOUNTER'
WILL LAUNCH SEPTEMBER 22 ON XBOX LIVE ARCADE
Majesco Entertainment, an innovative provider of video games for the mass market, today announced that Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter is coming to Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft on September 22, 2010. Developed by Croteam, the creators of the Serious Sam franchise, and produced in partnership with Devolver Digital, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter continues the glorious high-definition chaos with a slick new graphic presentation, intense multiplayer action, and an onslaught of all-new levels, enemies and bosses. This expertly re-vamped iteration of the original cranks up the carnage and uses the Serious Engine 3 to deliver the trademark over-the-top-action that is synonymous with the golden age of first-person shooters.
Traveling through the crumbling Mayan ruins of South America, towering ziggurats of ancient Mesopotamia and the savage realm of medieval Europe, Second Encounter players will fend off never-ending waves of Lord Mental's Army. These warriors include old friends like the Beheaded Kamikaze, Syrian Werebull and Kleer Skeleton, along with five new types of baddies and three new bosses for Sam to "play with." Luckily, our hero has a HUGE arsenal of 14 'bring-the-pain' weapons at his disposal, including three new toys: the Sniper Rifle, Flamethrower and Chainsaw.
For those fans who don't want to go at it alone, the game's co-op mode lets up to four players ratchet up the mayhem across 12 maps that include a brand spanking new Coop Survival mode along with other Cooperative, Versus and Team modes like Beast Hunt, Team Deathmatch, Last Man Standing and Capture the Flag. Featuring BIG guns, TONS of enemies, loads of achievements and more than 100 delightful secrets to discover, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter will remind players why they got into playing games in the first place: to blow stuff up.
