Week in Review: New promise for an Old Republic

At the end of every week, we round up the best and most popular news stories, exclusive features, and insightful columns published on Massively and then present them all in one convenient place. Miss a big MMO or WoW Insider story last week? You've come to the right post.

Fans returned from PAX East more excited than ever about BioWare's incoming Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO, even our own Larry Everett and Eliot Lefebvre, who penned a double hands-on with the game's Taral V flashpoint. SWTOR's news didn't end at the close of the con, however. We also learned this week that the unreleased game has already accrued 1.5 million would-be beta testers, all of whom will no doubt be disappointed by confirmation that TOR's official launch won't occur until sometime after July 1st. Undaunted, Electronic Arts expressed confidence that the venerable Star Wars IP can take on the aging World of Warcraft. Is EA right? We'll have to wait until after July to find out.

Join us past the break for a peek at this week's other top stories.
And from our sister site, WoW Insider...
