After its sneaky, unarchived debut on Giant Bomb's livestream, Might & Delight has officially announced its "original adventure game," Pid. Stranded on an alien world, the player uses "gravitybending action, intricate puzzle-solving and classic precision platform action" to find the way home and defeat "quirky robots." You won't need to solve any intricate puzzles to watch the trailer; simply click above.
Might & Delight intends to release this on console download services and PC in 2012, though it needs a publisher before it can do that.
THE RETRO TO PLATFORM ACTION WITH Pid
Digitally Delivered Retro Adventure Game From Experienced Team is Out of this World
SSTOCKHOLM, Swe. - Dec 06, 2011 - Today, Might and Delight, a developer of high quality video games
based in Sweden, in partnership with Beefy Media, a leading video game production company, announced
development of an original adventure game, Pid. The game will be released digitally in 2012 for several
platforms, including gaming consoles and PC.
"It´s our ambition to create an experience that has the elegant simplicity of old adventure games, where the
most important ingredient is rhythm found not only in the relation between story and visuals but also in the
way the game plays," said Jakob Tuchten, creative director, Might and Delight. "We're building a refreshing
experience that pays homage to the days of classic platform games while bringing something completely new ex
to the global gaming marketplace."
In the fantastic world of Pid, the player's unique and eccentric journey unfolds as the protagonist is
stranded on a remote planet. Players hone their gaming abilities through creative approaches to gravitybending action, intricate puzzle-solving and classic precision platform action, overcoming larger-than-life
obstacles and surprisingly original enemy characters. Throughout the course of the adventures in Pid,
players will be challenged to outwit a variety of quirky robots and befriend unlikely allies on their quest to
face-off against a ruler that has no intention of letting anyone leave the planet.
"I was fortunate enough to work with this talented team on Bionic Commando: Rearmed, a remake of a classic
8-bit game that ended up with higher review scores than the original game," said Adam Boyes, president, Beefy
Media. "It's rare that you önd a team as gifted as Might and Delight that has both an incredible eye for aesthetics
and deep commitment to the feel of gameplay. I'm not sure what Sweden has in its water, but I think they should
bottle and sell it to the rest of the games industry."
