The Queue: Frogs, Doctor Who, Celery, and Penny Arcade

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) will be your host today.

I came across the above video on Reddit yesterday, and as typical of such findings, I thought to myself, "Oh my, this has to go in The Queue."

And so it goes.

Ashlar asked:

Why are people in the raid finder such assholes?

Not everyone is. I certainly am not when I venture forth into it.

It all has to do with anonymity, too; when people are anonymous and see no consequences for their actions, they tend to have no sense of decency and respect for others. Truly (and I say this after working for this site for almost four years now -- my god, it's been a long time), it's the worst of humanity.

Penny Arcade has one of my favorite comics ever on the subject. It's not safe for work (at least, the words are not safe).

Krem asked:

Are there any games/companies who do cinematics and cinematic trailers as good as Blizzard? Competition seems slim...

Blizzard has always been at the forefront of cinematics and computer graphics. I remember as a kid just being in awe at some of the Warcraft and StarCraft cinematics (and getting to meet some of the people who worked on those later on as an adult was pretty awesome).

That said, I think Blizzard's work still represents the bar that everyone judges themselves by. Rockstar is pretty solid in the cinematics department, and BioWare is too, of course. It'd be pretty hard to say which of those three is reigning supreme at any one moment, but overall, Blizzard is the best (in my book).

I should also note how seriously amazing Blizzard's musical works are. There are few places left that treat music as such an important aspect of storytelling, and Blizzard does an amazing job in this department. Russell Brower is particularly impressive in what he's been able to accomplish for the medium (and he even has a nod in-game as a key quest giver out in Twilight Highlands for the Alliance).

Felix asked:

I probably missed something but if Nozdormu lost his powers how can he go insane in the future and still have his powers?

Because the future where he goes insane is just one possible future we were dealing with (dealt with). It's time travel, so it's best to just nod your head and eat some celery.

Noyou asked:

Anyone with a Mechanohog or Mekgineer's chopper notice there is a considerable amount of vibration when you ride it? I have it on 4 toons and never noticed it until now. Is this new or was it always there?

It's always been there.

Chris asked:

Anyone know if Blizz plans to put back city portals? It occurred to me while sitting at the zeppelin dock waiting to get to UC for the Greench daily that we had city portals for most of WotLK. Why are they still gone? How does it possibly improve the game experience to keep them out? I spend way too much time ferrying toons around and not actually playing the game IMO.

Blizzard's original thinking still stands -- the uber-presence of portals like in Wrath would just lead to the capital cities' being deserted, because everyone would congregate where the portals are. That's not what Blizzard wants. (You can all agree or disagree, but that's what it's told us all the motive is in Cataclysm.) Things have changed a little in that there's a portal to Stormwind/Orgrimmar in Dalaran now up all the time -- so there's that, at least.

Does Blizzard have plans to put portals back in to all the cities? None that I've heard.
