WRUP: Let's get physical
Every week, just at the start of the weekend, we catch up with the WoW Insider staff and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" -- otherwise known as: WRUP. Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game, and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
Those of you who have been following my personal life know that I just moved to Southern California a month or two ago. There's been quite a bit of culture shock -- everything in LA is so pretty (minus the architecture) that even I, a relatively good-looking dude, felt a little insecure.
But did I wallow in despair? No, I did not, my friend -- I did something about it. I got a gym membership and a personal trainer. I went out and I got physical. I wanted to let them hear my body talk, my body talk.
I mean, I've been patient, I've been good, tried to keep my hands on the table. It's gettin' hard this holdin' back, you know what I mean? I'm sure you'll understand my point of view, we know each other mentally. You gotta know that you're bringin' out the animal in me.
So strap on your finest leg warmers, and envision this page covered with bright neon colors, unusual moving shapes, and the occasional '80s-style squiggle. After all, it's time to get physical with this week's WRUP!
Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) This is the last weekend before my wedding, so I've got a bunch of people to get together with that are working on all the different things for our day. It's ... a lot of stuff. As far as gaming goes, I sadly haven't had any time to play anything the last couple weeks, with the exception of two raid finder runs on my priest with a buddy of mine. Probably won't get to until the end of August, either.
Alex Ziebart (@alexziebart) Daniel and I are WRUP twins this week. I'll be playing some Mass Effect 3 for Operation Olympus, rocking my N7 Slayer. After that, I'll be jumping back into Binding of Isaac. Binding of Isaac is a supremely bizarre game, but I cannot stop playing it. I love it, and it only cost me what, $5? I'd say I got my money's worth.
Allison Robert (@AllisonRobert) More beta work this weekend, but I'm afraid the most pressing game at the moment would be trying to figure out why my computer overheats so quickly with the most recent build.
Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I'll be writing, doing a bit of raiding, and I'm not really sure about game choices -- I think I'll leap into Mass Effect 2 this weekend if I have time, either that or work on a few secret projects I have under my hat.
Chase Christian (@madsushi) I'll be playing Path of Exile, a Diablo clone that's still in beta. I've been having fun so far, though it is very deep and complex.
Chase Hasbrouck (@alarondruid, @alaronmonk) It's my 10th wedding anniversary this weekend! The virtual world can wait for a bit.
Daniel Desmond (@antigen) We're almost up to 13 now? Oh, boy. Well, I need to finish Dead Space. I feel like I'm almost done, but I just started a section where the game is like, "go back to this place you already went to," so I guess I have no real idea when it's going to end. All I really know is that the number of limbs I will vehemently stomp off is going to be astronomical.
Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) I'll be running some ME3 Multiplayer for Operation Olympus. Batarian Sentinel, I still can't quit you. I've also been planning some new transmogs, so I may try farming a few transmog pieces in WoW this weekend. Finally, I've beat Mom's Heart a decent amount of times in Binding of Isaac, so I'm thinking I might make a serious shot at Sheol this weekend too.
Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) Skyrim, if the baby will let me get to my laptop, and the new Kingdom Hearts if he won't. Fallout 3 is probably the game I've played the most voraciously over the years, as well as the other Bethesda projects.
Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) Another sunny day beneath this cloudless sky; sometimes I wish that it would rain here. And wash away the west coast dreaming from my eyes;
there's nothing real for them to see here.
Joe Perez (@lodurzj) Killing pixels in the beta, I just reinstalled the whole thing from scratch, hoping it fixes the disconnect issues and then playing these fancy smancy analog games at the Erie County Fair this weekend. Ring toss! Pop the balloon! HOW MUCH FUNNEL CAKE CAN I STUFF IN MY MOUTH!?! should be a good time.
Lisa Poisso (lisapoisso) Sorting out my bank and the mess of auctions I've let pile up is the rather horrifying but necessary gaming task on my list this weekend. If you don't see me again by Monday, I'll just be by the mailbox in front of the Ironforge bank. Send help ...
Matt Low (@matticus) More League of Legends for me. More Mists of Pandaria beta action as well. CS: Global Offensive too addicting to put down, but Steam errors have thwarted me.
Matt Rossi (@matthewwrossi) My wife's out of town for the weekend at a cousin's wedding, so I'm playing the "feed the menagerie" game where every cat in existence seems to have bilocated to my house. I'm also reading the Pathfinder RPG books and thinking about doing my own RPG setting.
Matt Walsh (@rhidach) Heading to Buffalo this weekend to spend a week with my wife and her family. I probably won't be playing many games other than something on the 3DS in the car, and (of course) "keep the puppy from peeing in my in-laws' house."
Megan O'Neill (@slowpoker) My guild is still pushing for 8/8H in Dragon Soul before Mists comes out. So we're doing lots of 25H Spine! It's a PITA, especially since I've had to throw on my offspec demo to do it. Last night we got to the third plate a couple of times, so maybe we can knock it out soon. On the flip side, I've been gearing up an old shaman at 80 to do Herald of the Titan runs with other cross-realm people.
Michael Gray (@writegray) This weekend, I'll be playing with River and Sylvanas, who will be locked in mortal combat to determine who's the stronger female character. Sadly for the hound, River's likely to win, with two separate randoms to draw upon. Project-wise, I'm regrading some land around my driveway and home. The summer storms have really done a number of the soft earth, so I need to re-dig some of the gulches to give water somewhere to go. Since my life is one of glamor and excitement, I might brew some beer on the side.
Olivia Grace (@oliviagrace) I've called time on raiding now until Mists raids begin for my guild. I've ditched my PvE healing spec and grabbed an elemental spec, equipped my elemental Cataclysmic Gladiator's gear, and I'm going to be laughing it up trying to do battlegrounds as an elemental shaman. I'm also trying to get my paladin a retribution PvP gear set. I don't currently own a two-handed weapon for her, which is a bit of a hindrance! So working on that and a bit of alt leveling and RBGs. Busy weekend!
