Will they add a new raid in 5.1 ?
There will be no new raid in patch 5.1. The patch notes have never had a raid in them, and the patch has gone to release candidate state, meaning all the major features are locked down and the bugs are being worked out to make it ready for the live servers.
Personally, I don't think this will be a bad thing either, even though it is a departure from the past several years. This patch brings with it a major new PvE objective and a great little fight club for everyone to enjoy, in addition to the classes changes and other goodies. By allowing raids to last longer and getting the "smaller" content out quicker, Blizzard is directly responding to patch lulls that have plagued the game in the past.
If they continue on this route, we shouldn't see this horrendously long amount of time with no new content. Granted, the content might be smaller in quantity, but we'll still get something more often.
Further, I personally know no one that is through all the heroic modes yet, so there's a lot left to do. Heck, my raid doesn't even have 25 people yet (hopefully tonight they will). There's still a lot of content for everyone to consume.
Does anyone else kind of feel bad for the NPCs that don't have anything to do anymore? I just saw Egan Peltskinner, former wolf hide collector, sitting off by himself by Northshire Abbey, and I can't help but wonder what could keep him there. Does he think that the blackrock orcs and worgs will go away and allow the native wolves to come back so he can send new adventurers out to skin them again? Has he gone insane since the Cataclysm? Or has he retired after collecting millions of skins and just like Northshire?
Egan Peltskinner lead an interesting life and is responsible for his own station, so don't feel bad for him. Prior to being in charge of pelt collecting, he was the Alliance ambassador to the tauren. There he learned a lot about the different ways of the earth and druid spirits. One night after a bit too much drinking with a particularly attractive heifer, he stumbled down to his tent and got out his skinning tools. He ended up running around Mulgore screaming "Mooo!" at cows while trying to tip them. On one of the successful tips he decided it'd be grand to skin the cow and make its pelt into a winter jacket for himself. Of course the tauren were a bit upset over this, so they sent him packing back to Stormwind.
Egan did it to himself. When he's not standing around Northshire, he can be found living in his van, down by the river.
Just how good are the DMF trinkets? They have lower ilvl that MSV normal.
Don't let an item's iLevel fool you into basing its worth around it. The DMF trinkets are pretty good, and they should provide a lot of utility to anyone who is lucky enough to grab them. They are not best in slot for most classes/specs, but they're very close, meaning that unless you are raiding all the time and will get a top-end trinket, they'll probably be one of the best options for you right now.
Personally, I get the trinket for my main right away. It gives me a little bit of a leg up in DPS and helps with that extra push that's necessary to correct for other people learning their classes and having substandard gear. Any purple at the beginning of an expansion helps, and they're an easy grab if you've got the gold.
Q4tQ: I have been attempting to level a monk and a hunter simultaneously through dungeons primarily. I have full heirloom on both characters. My monk is outpacing my hunter by several levels now due to the daily Enlightenment buff that is monk specific. Are there any options available to other classes for XP boosts year-round?
Unfortunately no, there's nothing like the monk's enlightenment buff available for other characters. There are a couple low drop rate elixers from rare mobs that you can try to get, but they are not the same as the enlightenment buff.
For those of you who don't know, every 10 levels (and once per day via a daily) the monk can do a quest to get the enlightenment buff, which increases XP gained by 50%. It really speeds up leveling, especially if you level your character so that you're only playing it for an hour or two a day.
I hope that Blizzard decides to put the buff in for other classes via some mechanism.
