Refresh Roundup week of April 29th, 2013

Your smartphone and / or tablet is just begging for an update. From time to time, these mobile devices are blessed with maintenance refreshes, bug fixes, custom ROMs and anything in between, and so many of them are floating around that it's easy for a sizable chunk to get lost in the mix. To make sure they don't escape without notice, we've gathered every possible update, hack, and other miscellaneous tomfoolery we could find during the last week and crammed them into one convenient roundup. Official Android updates

  • LG Revolution: One of Verizon's first LTE smartphones, the LG Revolution, recently received a software update that patches security holes, removes a number of bloatware apps and ensures proper GPS functionality from within the VZW Family locator app. [Android Central]
  • Samsung Galaxy S 4: Although Sprint's being rather coy about the purpose of this one, it's released (but hasn't yet announced) a software update for the GS4. Users that've installed the update speculate that it might bring performance improvements, but we'll be sure to circle back if we get any official word. Likewise, users in India are reporting a similar update, with official notes that distinctly mention improved stability. [Android Police, FoneArena]
  • Samsung Galaxy S Advance: Samsung has kicked off its Jelly Bean deployment for this smartphone in Germany, Poland and Ukraine. [GSM Arena]

Other platforms

  • HTC 8X: Users on AT&T and Verizon report of an update for the 8X that brings language improvements. [WPCentral 1, 2]
  • Nokia Lumia 822: No official release notes exist for this one, but word has it that Verizon has released an update that brings performance and stability improvements, along with tweaks to the brightness and proximity sensors. [WPCentral]
  • iOS: Apple released iOS 6.1.4, which brings an updated audio profile for the speakerphone. [Redmond Pie]
