Square Enix unveils card-based zombie RPG Deadman's Cross

Square Enix reveals cardbased shooter Deadman's Cross

This winter Square Enix will debut Deadman's Cross, a free-to-play, mobile sequel to the recently-released Guardian Cross.

While Guardian Cross features fantasy characters and a top-down perspective, Deadman's Cross is set in the midst of the zombie apocalypse. Dubbed "Deadmen," these shambling corpses have taken over the world, and its up to you to hunt them down using a rifle, a deck of cards and a new first-person perspective. Killing Deadmen will add them to your deck allowing you to use them in future battles, though if Guardian Cross is any indicator, players will also be able to bolster their decks through the game's wide selection of microtransactions.

Deadman's Cross is slated for release on both Android and iOS platforms at some point this winter. Square Enix has promised a trailer for the game at this year's Tokyo Game Show and we expect more comprehensive details on Deadman's Cross to emerge at that point.

SQUARE ENIX's DEADMAN'S CROSS AVAILABLE NOW
Free-to-Play, Zombie Card Battle RPG Developed by Team Behind the Global Hit GUARDIAN CROSS
LOS ANGELES (Sep. 3, 2013) – Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX® interactive entertainment products in the Americas, today announced the availability of DEADMAN'S CROSS™ a free-to-play, zombie card battle role-playing game. The game is available now for iPhone®, iPad®, iPod Touch® and Android™ devices.

Following on from last year's release of Guardian Cross®, this new game is set in a world infested with Deadmen, a race of zombies that have devastated the world. Use your rifle to hunt zombies within the time allotted. Acquire the cards of any zombies you defeat and use them to build your own deck.

In "GUARDIAN CROSS", the player hunts around to collect cards and this unique mechanic will come back to the latest game whilst the hunter's vision has changed from "top view" to 3D view so that the player can enjoy a brand-new feel from his hunting actions. There are other new systems which have been implemented together with visually impressive zombie cards. With all these additional elements, the new game will have a very different appeal to "GUARDIAN CROSS".

The game is free-to-play and will be released as a free download this winter for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Android devices. A first-look trailer for DEADMAN'S CROSS will be shown at this year's Tokyo Game Show, at the Mega Theatre in the SQUARE ENIX booth.
