Square Enix detailed its upcoming mobile RPG Final Fantasy Agito in this week's issue of Famitsu magazine, revealing that it will be released as a free-to-play app for iOS and Android in Japan this winter.

Set in the world of the Japan-exclusive PSP game Final Fantasy Type-0, Final Fantasy Agito casts players in the role of a customizable main character who can be outfitted with items purchased via microtransactions. Agito's storyline will feature multiple branching paths, and alternate story routes can be explored after each playthrough.

Famitsu reports that playtime will be divided between "solo play" and "team play" phases. Players will tackle missions based around individual characters in the game's solo component, while Agito's cast will assemble to battle bosses during team play segments.

A North American release for Final Fantasy Agito has not been announced.
