MakerBot Digitizer eyes-on
Today we got the chance to go eyes-on with MakerBot's newly refurbished Digitizer. And, what we saw is a far cry from the device we saw back in March at South by Southwest -- rather, it's a much slicker, more solid looking machine. The Digitizer, as its name suggests, uses lasers to scan an object and convert it into a digital file that can be fed into a 3D printer. While its usefulness for 3D printing addicts is obvious, its $1,400 price tag limits its mainstream appeal. Read on for more.

Bad news from BlackBerry: 4,500 jobs to be cut, $1 billion Q2 losses expected
The bad news just keeps on coming for BlackBerry. This year has seen poor adoption rates of its new BB10 OS, and rumors that massive layoffs were coming before the year's end. Today's news confirms some of those rumors, with an announced 4,500 employees to lose their jobs as part of a plan to reduce operating expenditures by fifty percent over the next year. Why's the company taking such drastic measures? It's expecting a 2nd quarter loss of almost one billion dollars, driven primarily by the disappointing sale of the company's BB10 devices. Gold iPhone 5s in short supply as Apple only ships 'tens' of units to stores
Today brought the release of Apple's latest flagship device. Pre-orders for the iPhone 5s opened up at 3AM EDT on Apple's online store, alongside long lines at Cupertino's retail counterparts a few hours later. Many users have scoffed at the idea of a gold iPhone, but it seems that metallic champagne is a color plenty of consumers are trying to buy. Online order deliveries have already been pushed back to next month, and sources have confirmed that some retail stores only received "tens" of units upon launch.
