WRUP: Cross pollination of ideas

WRUP Cross pollination of ideas

Transmogrification is landing in Diablo III, an idea that feels so natural you almost wonder why it wasn't always there. It just feels right. The ability to customize the appearance of your character is already ingrained in us WoW heads, so those Diablo fiends will almost certainly enjoy it. Some of D3's transmog is so cool that we already hope that WoW can steal it.

So this week, when we asked your intrepid WoW Insider staff what they're playing, we also asked what other features we hoped to see enjoy this kind of cross pollination. I'm pulling for pet battles, myself. What good's a monk without a fighting chipmunk?

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) BlizzCon prep! I have a bunch of errands and last-minute shopping to get done before the trip. And hopefully I'll have some time to catch up on reading. And maybe in between I'll play a little Warcraft - at the very least to complete my daily Headless Horseman runs in search of a mount that clearly doesn't exist. As for features - honestly I like the idea of AoE looting, but like Megan said, that could run into problematic space issues. Daily quests would be interesting though - it'd probably keep me coming back and playing a little more than I do right now.

Dan Desmond (@Antigen_) I picked up The Stanley Parable on Steam earlier in the week and gave that a shot. Sadly there's nearly no replay value to be had, so I'll have to find something else. A part of me wants to check out Day One: Garry's Incident if only to see first hand how buggy and awful it is, but I don't want to give those shady developers any more money. I guess I'll be contented just watching Youtube clips, at least the ones they haven't taken down.

If there's one thing Diablo needs that WoW has, it's daily quests and lots of them.

Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) I'm actually getting a little aimless on my gaming lately. I'll probably run some dungeons on my monk, play some Hearthstone, and maybe run a bit more ME3 MP. I'm getting so close to Best of the Best I can taste it.

On the bonus question. Well. Heck. I wish WoW would borrow Diablo's transmog mode. Auto-saving looks instead of having to keep the item in my bank would be keen. I also wouldn't mind borrowing the death knight class from WoW in Diablo. Hungering Cold, Death and Decay, Army of the Dead? Perfect demon-killing machine.

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) My computer crashed last week, so I'll be trying to reinstall my Steam games and get back to the points I was at. I've already got Borderlands 2 back and am working on the Captain Scarlett DLC.

Joe Perez (@lodurzj) I am playing Forced. The game is buggy, but it is wildly entertaining. The multiplayer is very fun and there is a lot of teamwork required to make it through the levels. I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

Kristin Marshall (@kristin) I've been working on H SoO progression, so I'm a bit short on valor. I'll run a few H scenarios and Flex to cap. I'm finally feeling comfortable raiding on my monk and I passed the trial period in my new guild this week - happy times! Bonus: I really like Daniel's idea of daily quests in D3. Although dailies can be bleh in WoW after a while, D3 could use them.

Lisa Poisso (@lisapoisso) The newbie has discovered the joys of PvP, and hearing the familiar sounds of battlegrounds drifting in from the other room during the evening has given me the PvP bug again. I'm regearing one of my priestlies for battle and hope to find myself in Arathi Basin some time this weekend. I'll probably fight in the road the first time around just for the sheer cussedness of it. Bonus question: I'm with Mr. Desmond - dailies would be a smart addition to Diablo.

Matt "Matticus" Low (@matticus) Much more Hearthstone for me this weekend. More cards to unlock (basic cards) as I haven't touched other classes like the priest or rogue yet.

Bonus: You know, it'd be nice if WoW had DIablo's random dungeon generator thing so that no two dungeon runs are the same but I understand that the tech would be nigh impossible.

Matthew Rossi (@MatthewWRossi) Quite frankly, D3 didn't just copy WoW's transmog, it improved the hell out of it. WoW should be stealing D3's transmog. I even wrote a post saying so.

Megan O'Neill (@slowpoker) I don't know really where to reply to this, but what the heck. Not to be a downer, but... I'm not sure that AoE loot would work in D3 very well since you don't actually want to pick up everything that drops. You're supposed to pick through what's on the ground, I thought? As for AoE gold looting, it's already in game as the loot/pickup radius increase stat.

Though I could see AoE/auto loot of common things like all those pages of jewelcrafting.

Olivia Grace (@oliviadgrace) I'm moving. No games. Well ok maybe some games, I've got the StarCraft II bug, and want to do more arenas!

Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel) It's The Spawn's birthday weekend, so there won't be much time for gaming. If there is, we'll play our panda duo. Bonus: Pet battles! Just kidding. Optional AOE loot. Pick up one thing and get everything within a reasonable radius.

Sarah Pine (@ilaniel) Games wise I'm not sure what I'll be playing this weekend, haven't decided yet. My gaming rig is still down for the count so I've got the PS1 or my husband's ancient laptop. Maybe it can run Minecraft? I like Minecraft. Bonus question: Robin's suggestion of AoE loot for Diablo gets my vote. Clicking on a bazillion piles of gold is not my idea of a fun time.

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
