Random Acts of Uberness: 'Tis the season to be uber

The flood of holiday happiness continues this week with a record number of Random Acts of Uberness reported across Azeroth. This week, we start off with a note that turns the tables on the player who reported the lead story in last week's Random Acts, proving that when players reach out to build community, everybody wins.

Caught being uber: Kazekana, Hyjal (US-Horde) Well, during the Winter Festival, Mistsofjade and myself (Lucidluna) passed out free cookies, milk and ports to everyone who came up to us, then Christmas Eve night we handed out Fortune cards! We got tons of heartfelt sweet messages from people as well as thank yous and even a few gifts from players, but Misty and I both were SHOCKED to find out that we were on WoW insiders! We received a whisper while in LFR about it and tons of congratulations from the servers players.

Misty and I both really wanted to thank Kazehana from Hyjal for submitting us. Misty is actually my mom and we both were having a very less than fantastic Christmas this year, and that really meant allot to us both. It was really great of them to do that for us and they have no idea how much it lifted our spirits and made our Christmas! Thank you Kazehana for making our Christmas 100x better! -- Lucidluna and Mistsofjade, Hyjal (US-Horde)

Caught being uber: Zafina, Muradin (US-Horde) Today 12/24/13 Zafina was telling everyone in trade chat to stop by Garroshs' throne room for a Christmas present. All you had to do was open trade with Zafina and she gave you some gifts. I received a recipe "carrion surprise" wrapped in holiday gift paper and a netherweave bag.

people doing cool things like this are why WoW and the online gaming community are such a cool group of people. I was lucky enough to get out of work early today and this made my day even better. just a random person I don't know, doing something randomly cool, which is a random act of uberness. -- Tiqtoq, Nordrassil (US-Horde)

Caught being uber: Gyatsu, Wyrmrest Accord (US-Horde) My first time sending a mail to ya, so that means I was moved to do so thanks to the actions of a player on my realm. Wyrmrest Accord has it's own Santa, in the form of Gyatsu, from <Lauberge>. This blood elf Monk, and surely other elves had taken the time to make 400 + Netherweave Bags to pass out to the lowbies from level 5 to 35 on Christmas of all nights. I sent a tell, asking if they needed more cloth as I am an altoholic, only to be told that they've given out 150 so far (8pm CST) and they still had many more to go. I thanked him for doing what he did, and I was told to have a very wonderful holiday. How cool is that? He made my night just by rebuilding my faith in the players of the game, and in people in this holiday season. -- Keledan, Wyrmrest Accord (US-Horde)

Caught being uber: Quintus and Caelixx, Wyrmrest Accord (US) For all of the negative things that may happen on my roleplaying server, Wyrmrest Accord, it really brings a smile to my face when I see people going against the grain and doing something positive. Especially this time of year, many people are in the game of receiving instead of just giving.

Quintus of Wyrmrest Accord decided to give out several gifts on Steam to people on the server. All in all, he gave over ten games to people on the server, even giving more than he originally planned. I always have questioned his hate for Goblins, but I think it's probably because he's shown he's the polar opposite of being greedy and stingy. From everyone on the server, thanks Quintus!

Continuing with the holiday tradition, I want to thank Caelixx on Wyrmrest Accord as well. For the last several weeks, he had been giving off gifts in Stormwind. He went beyond the typical gift giving, and personalized each gift be looking on the WoW Armory to ensure people were getting something of use. In addition to walking around and giving gifts, he then decided to give away 20,000g on Christmas Eve.

It's things like this that make Wyrmrest Accord stand apart from the other servers and we have players on our server to thank for that. -- Anonymous

Caught being uber: Ninjaraven, Cenarion Circle (US-Alliance) A level 88 warrior (whose name was Minimeh, but who had so many special characters in his name that I'm not even going to try) on our server entered trade chat to ask for help. He'd gotten a port to the Shrine, but because he didn't have any connected flight points (and because he was still leveling), there was no way for him to get to his intended questing area. He was stuck, and was asking for someone to take five minutes to get him to the other side of the wall so he could continue his quest for gold and glory.

The majority of Trade chat jumped down his throat (as Trade chat is so apt to do these days - though why they are, I really have no clue), and so I decided to hop from the alt I was leveling to a 90 alt so I could give this guy a lift. I sign in, port to Shrine (I am a mage, you see), and start asking around. After five minutes of the guy not answering, I get a whisper from Ninjaraven, telling me he'd already given him a lift.

So mad props to Ninjaraven for being willing to help a guy in need, and for restoring some of my faith in humanity. You are the reason we CAN have nice things. -- Clayworth, Cenarion Circle (US-Alliance)

Caught being uber: Krubbles, Gilneas (US-Alliance) I confess that I didn't start seriously collecting pets until early last season and although the ubiquitous "Snowy Owl" was available then, I hadn't realized it was seasonal, so I failed to get it when I should have. As it turned out, it was the final pet I needed for Kalimodor Safari and the Meta.

So I parked myself in Winter Spring recently and have been flying a circuit everyday trying to find it with not a lot of luck. Finally on Saturday, the 28th, after having "mowed the lawn" (or snow?) so to speak in Winterspring for the umpteenth time, Krubbles-Gilneas asked in General Chat "Anyone need a grey Snowy Owl?". I jumped on that with "/1 Me!". Krubbles invited me to a group and when I flew to him there was that little grey sucker flying around. Whacked him with my Terrible Turnip and viola, glorious achievement spam galore!. Krubbles I owe you! Thanks for being Uber! -- Mtwohb, Llane (US-Alliance)

Caught being uber: Njoror, Wyrmrest Accord (US-Alliance) Just wanted to throw out a quick shout-out to Njoror of Wyrmrest Accord. On December 21 I headed out to Winterspring to catch my Snowy Owl and complete my World Safari achievement. And of course I was having no luck finding one.

Then Njoror announced in General Chat that he had found an uncommon quality if anyone wanted it, to which 3 people immediately said "Nah, looking for rare" so I whispered that I would take it. We grouped up, I flew to his location, and promptly... killed the owl by accident. (I know, I know, use Terrible Turnip). But Njoror was awesome and stayed grouped with me until he found another Snowy Owl that I could catch. So thank you Njoror, not only helping me get my achievement, but also for giving me someone to celebrate with at the time (all of my guildies were off-line). -- Cynd

Caught being uber: Cazie and Moiijto, Eonar (EU-Alliance) Tonight, one of my alts had finally gotten to level 58 so I took him through the portal and started working on levelling. 59 dinged and I was running round killing boar when I saw a shout in /1 for a healer or tank to join what was being called "a semi-boost" in ramps. They asked a couple of times and no-one was responding so I replied to say I wished I could help but that I was neither – next thing I knew, I'd been invited to the group!

Cazie and Moiijto were patient enough to wait while I tried to find the entrance to the instance (I've levelled around 15 alts through this zone but it's a very long time since I tried to find the instances without having the flying skill!) and then showed some amazing mage-tanking and keeping-the-warrior alive skills while my panda lumbered around and did his best to help out.

After Hellfire Ramparts they ran through Blood Furnace and then offered another run through Ramps which I had to cry off because it was getting too late.

I was touched they'd take a lvl 59 along without knowing anything about him, and I (at least!) had fun so it'd be nice to show them some recognition. Guys, Tacsan of Kilrogg thanks you both for a fun time! -- Tacsan, Kilrogg (EU-Alliance)

Caught being uber: Castaan, Uldum (US-Alliance) I logged into my seldom used hunter alt, that has taken up permanent residence at Halfhill Market, to see an item in the mail from Castaan. This generous person must have been inspecting me at some point and had seen that my Timeless Isle gear was ungemmed. The note said, "Saw that you had some empty gem slots. Hope that you find these useful. Good luck and good hunting!;)" Included with the note was an Adept Vermillion Onyx, Delicate Primordial Ruby, Lightning Wild Jade, and an Agile Primal Diamond.

I have 7 90's on the server so returned the gems with a nice thank you note and a new found pay it forward attitude. My hunter is just used for enchanting these days but that was easily the nicest random gesture I've ever had in my years of playing WoW. -- Avroarrow, Uldum (US-Alliance)
