In the past, you chose mostly everything for the column's writer to do in a particular game (that you also chose). We've decided to streamline the process and make it more of a three-part "review" of sorts with a fourth part set aside for voting. I will select the game to prevent the recent problems we've had with cheating, and you will choose my path within it. That means there will be one week of voting and three weeks of my impressions of those choices for each game.
So let's go ahead and get into the polls for this PlanetSide 2 edition of Choose My Adventure.
PlanetSide 2 could best be described as an intense, action-filled MMOFPS where your character is thrust into the battlefield to control territory against two other factions trying to do the same thing. There are multi-person vehicles, air combat, artillery, and the good old infantry to contend with.
I chose PS2 because I feel that it's a great game, but it can easily burn people out with its repetitiveness and lack of story or goals beyond taking bases. It was wildly popular when it launched in November of 2012, but it now retains a hardcore playerbase that has little flexibility for noobs.
February was a big month for the game as it introduced new or redesigned bases, the anticipated overhaul of the Amerish continent, and more.
I'm going to allow you to vote on a new character for me and start from scratch because I believe that offers more options than if I were to just play my existing Engineer. I love my Engineer, but I have yet to really do much with other classes. So this won't be a cut-and-dried vote on a class; it will be a vote on a role that you want me to play in the game and write about.
You have until this Friday at 11:59 p.m. EST to get those votes in. Then the real fun begins!
Shawn Schuster is now permanently at the helm of Massively's Choose My Adventure with you as the first mate. It's going to be a rough ride, so put on your seat belt! Join him every Wednesday for a reader-guided deep-dive into a new MMO every month. Farcical puns about cars and farming sold separately.
