Square Enix unveiled a new Play Arts Kai statue that provides a glimpse of what a Batman game might look like in the hands of Tetsuya Nomura. The figure is one of a new Batman line dreamed up by the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts designer, and it's on display at the San Diego Comic Con, which kicks off today.

The word that springs to mind for us is sharp, literally. The cape looks sharp, the horn-like ears look sharp, the additional claw things look sharp - generally the caped crusader looks dangerous to even touch. The most surprising aspect? We can only see the one belt.

LOS ANGELES (July 23, 2014) – Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX® interactive entertainment products in the Americas, announced today a new line of collectible Batman figures for the high-end PLAY ARTS -KAI- series under licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment. The new line features original designs by Tetsuya Nomura, the designer/creator behind the renowned FINAL FANTASY® and KINGDOM HEARTS video game series.

SQUARE ENIX PRODUCTS, the collectible merchandise line by SQUARE ENIX, has previously released original iterations of the DC Comics Super Heroes through the DC Comics VARIANT PLAY ARTS -KAI- action figure series to much acclaim, and Nomura's rendition is scheduled to join this line-up next. The official product name will be announced at a later date, but the prototype is scheduled to be on display at the SQUARE ENIX booth (#3829) for a first look at this year's San Diego Comic-Con.
