The keyboard must be approximately eight inches from the base and hopefully on a flat/level service in order for it to work properly and consistenly. I have marked spot on my desk with a tiny piece of tape so I know exactly where to place. It now works perfect time every time. I'm typing right now with perfect key hits. Hope this is helpful.
