I just saw a little tid bit about it being available in the fallish time frame so probably late summer. like when 1.6 came out last year. Chances are devices already on 2.1 will get this relativity quick since it is quite small of an update much like donut was. It has a ton of features but they are mostly back end and mostly cloud based synching. Since there are no UI changes hopefully it will be able to play with Sense and Motoblur well enough that it doesn't take long to update them.
I'm getting my nexus one tomorrow, when Froyo is out how will I upgrade it? Will it be direct from the phone or download to a pc then upgrade? Sorry this is my first android phone. Thanks for the info.
It should be on the phone over the air. If I am not mistaken Google handles the updates themselves.
Thanks for the info!!! I'm really excited to get my Nexus one ad start playing with it :)
I feel the same way. I want it now. They didn't even announce that they didn't have a timeline. Come on.
Ryan and I just talked about this on the podcast. I think it'll be a while, a few weeks at best.
This is reminiscent of last years upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6. For the few phones that did upgrade it was quick, only 3ish months Since this is a 2.X upgrade all phones on 2.X should update to it very easily.
Also as a Nexus One owner, I'm at least glad to know that my phone will be the first to get Froyo.
