Well it's the one I started with, I used to play loads of Sonic the Hedgehog , Italia '90, Columns and some motorbike game
loved sega, but wth was up with sega cd and all the console add ons. Awsome starter system.
I actually had the Sega CD AND 32x for my Genesis. So many great games which still stand up today (not so many on the 32x or Sega CD). Love me some Shadowrun!
Yeah I loved this thing. Played lots of Sonic the Hedgehog, and Jurassic Park was one of my favorites too. You just don't get to blow into consoles these days like you used to.

I spent more time playing this than studying for my college exams - and I still passed! One of the best nostalgic game systems I've ever played.
I've got both an SNES and a Genesis, and I still really feel that the SNES had a larger catalogue of games, with more variety to it. That being said, the Sonic games were great! Heh, and who doesn't love some Mortal Kombat blood ;P
I probably played the game Eternal Champions for thousands of hours back then. Even today it is my all time favorite fighting game.
The best games in my mind were Sonic and ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron. I still find myself playing those every once in a while
Loved my Genesis. Absolutely was one of the most fun consoles I ever had. Starter system? Depends on the generation. I started on the NES so obviously have some bias. But one of the my all-time favorite games is actually on the Atari 2600 (Circus Atari). So I'd say the best starter system depends on the current systems. I don't think people that grow up with PS3 and 360 are going to appreciate these, which is really sad.
I loved sonic, I think it was a great starter system. Earthworm Jim and Batman Returns were awesome as well.
When I was just old enough to start playing, I used the Atari 2600. Graduated to the NES. I rode that system out until the Playstation. It had tons of games and peripherals and was supported forever. I liked playing my friends SNES or Genesis, but I always had more games I liked than they had. I still play both systems, but the NES is what made me the gamer I am today.......
The PS1 is nice, but the Genesis shares the honor of being one of the best consoles of all time.
Plus the 32-bit era had a lot of growing pains as far as 3D graphics and read speeds go.
The Genesis is the first console I ever owned (saved up for it myself), and I still have it in my office.
Just wish I could get better video quality out of it :)
It's also one of my favorite consoles to emulate.
This was my frist console too.
lots of sonic (Knuckles FTW)
Mortal Kombat II (equiped with buddy to press start at the appropriate popups)
does anyone remember the sidescroller shooting dinosaurs game? i wasted about half my live aged11-13 and about 50k in blockbuster late fees on that game.
It seems whatever console you had first is most peoples favorite starter system! lol
