Cannot log in to my Engadget account on the Android app

I just created this Engadget account and logged in on my computer using Firefox 28. I downloaded the Engadget app from the Play Store onto my Galaxy S4. When I log in with the exact same account and password, the login is rejected. I have tried changing the password on the computer and using the new password on the Android app with the same result.

And before anyone asks, I am using the Engadget account login, not social login.

Help appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for letting us know. Can you take a screenshot of where you are trying to log in?

That log in is for Livefyre commenting on the Engadget articles.

The Engadget account you created from the menu bar at the top of the page is separate from Livefyre.

I'm not logging in to Livefyre. I tapped on Engadget account login. Thank you.

There's some confusion here, but essentially you're trying to log into the commenting module on our main page, which is powered by Livefyre. The screenshot you posted above is only accessible when you click the "Sign In" button in the comments section.

You'll need to use your username and password that you created through Livefyre. Unfortunately, this is separate from the Engadget login you use to access our forums.

Same problem here with the iOS app. Definitely an issue on Engadgets part.

I can sign in perfectly fine on Engadgets site....but the iOS app says that the username does not exist.....and like you this is on an Engadget profile.

Please get your gear in check Engadget.

The Engadget app requires you to use a Livefyre account -- make sure that's what you're logging in with. The Engadget Forums account (what you're currently using to post right here) is not supported in the Engadget App. Confusing? Yes. We're working on getting this resolved though.
