Did you get a 3DS or 2DS to play Pokémon X Y?

The new 3D Pokémon games, X and Y, released this past weekend on October 12. Nintendo also released their new 2DS, the non-3D handheld aimed at younger children that day, and many were clamoring to get their hands on the limited edition Pokemon X and Y 3DS XLs.

Did you pick up Pokémon or a 2DS/3DS to play the game? Which version did you pick? And what Pokemon starters did you decide on?

Personally, I already had a 3DS prior to the Pokémon release, I chose Pokémon X, and went with Fennekin and Bulbasaur as my starters. I went to a midnight release to pick up my preorder, mostly for the Streetpasses with other players. When Pokémon Red was out, I always chose Bulbasaur, so that was the obvious choice here. So far, I'm about 15 hours into the game, I have 4 badges so far and I am absolutely loving this iteration of Pokémon.

Feel free to post your Friend Codes here if you'd like to trade Pokémon.

I already had a 3DS, so I've been looking forward to this release for awhile. I was a huge fan of the original Red/Blue, and there are a lot of nice little throwbacks to those games. I went with Charmander and Froakie (and don't forget the free Torchic you get as a mystery gift at the start screen, I guess that counts?). Let me tell you, the Charizard mega-evolutions look sick and are so satisfying to activate. I'm also 4 badges in, and I'm actually having a hard time limiting myself to healthy levels of playtime. If nobody hears from me for a few more weeks, I'm probably just dehydrated in my room. Send help.

For those who wish to know: The Frost Cavern north of Dendemille is crawling with Haunters.

I was only able to start yesterday, on a 3DS I already had.

Picked Pokemon X, and (Unfortunately) Froakie, the correct choice is Fennekin, but if I went that way, along with the gift Torchic and Charmander I may as well lead the Fire Gym

Hah yea that's pretty much why I went with Froakie. His final form, Greninja, does actually look pretty cool though.

I really like the EXP Share item that you receive relatively early in the game. Makes it so your Pokémon level fairly fast, and there really is no need to "grind" anymore. I think it makes me enjoy the game that much more.

I bought the 3DS last year knowing that Pokemon will be on it this year. Best investment! I can't wait for Super Smash Bros!

My friend code is 1005-9792-8648 feel free to add me. I also went with Froakie and Charmander. I just got both to their third evolutions. So far I am loving the game, I have not really played any Pokemon since maybe Saphire, but I am right back in the swing of things. I love that you get expierence for catching Pokemon, and you get the added benefit that the more you catch, the eaiser it is to catch them.

Also, don't know if anyone else picked up on it, when a wild Pokemon pops out, if there is a pokeball symbol next to their name, it means you have caught that type before. This is super helpful when you are not sure if you have caught a certain kind.

Get a 3DS. If you don't want to play it in 3D just turn it off. You could also put duct tape over it.
