Maemo 6 is an implementation of MeeGo. The version of Moblin on the GW990 is an implementation of MeeGo. So yes MeeGo has killed Maemo and Moblin.
Interesting, does MeeGo have a stock UI?
So basically, we'll have to re-buy an N1000 with Meego next year?
Yeah, makes me want to go back to android. I will, next year.
I still hope the N900 gets some love.
Looks like it might, after all. How does application compatibility work, I wonder...
Qt supports everything already so properly written applications should be forwards compatible.
Not yet, but as far as I can tell, eventually it will have 5 stock UIs.
Nokia felt their OS range was not confusing enough.
Couldn't they've picked a better name, like Meeblin or Mobeo?
To say nothing of Maeblin or Mobmo.
I don't think the Intel execs could pronounce any of these. MeeGo has obvious pronunciation.
From the head of Maemo, Ari Jaaksi, said on his Blog, "Maemo6 plans have not changed. We are working days and nights to get it out. It will be Qt based and MeeGo compatible."
Think that is what he meant when he said next Maemo 6 device will be an instance of MeeGo, yet not a MeeGo device.
