Favorite app on your 3GS?

I'm sure everyone has an app that you've discovered and now you can't live without it. It's the one you moved front and center on the home page. It's used everyday. Maybe free, maybe $4.99. Perhaps it's a game you're addicted to, something that enhances pictures from your iPhone, or maybe just a joke app you love using on your friends.

Regardless, If you could only keep one app, besides any apps pre-installed or made by Apple, what would it be and why?

For me, its Shazam. I'm obsessed over music and when I hear a song I like on the radio, you better believe I'm pulling out my 3GS to Shazam it. With the new features such as Twitter and maps integration, it's easily earned the position as my favorite app.

Pandora Radio. It has turned me onto so many cool artists. I had never heard of Owl City, Milosh, or Plastic Operator until I built an electronica station on Pandora.

I'm gonna go with Shazaam or this new app I just got called Seek 'n Spell. It is great fun with friends when you are bored; we go out and try to find imaginary letters in the park using the GPS on my phone :P

You know what's funny? My mother, a complete gadget-phobe, is also in love with her iPhone simply because of Pandora. She brings it into the kitchen and listens to it when she cooks dinner, she writes (yes, with a pen and paper) letters with Pandora streaming in the background -- heck, she probably even takes a shower with Pandora running!

As for me, I don't have an iPhone. I'm still on Sprint. ;)

I LOVE Pandora, but also have to give a shoutout to two other music-related apps: LastFM (very similar to Pandora, but with it's own wonderful idiosyncrasies) and Sonos. Sonos, of course, requires that you own the Sonos home audio hardware, but if you do, WOW! What an amazing controller it is!

Every time my two-year-old wants to have a "Dance Party," I put it in my dock and rock away. It's also great to play stuff at work. Easy way to try to stay on top of newer or lessen known bands or artists.

Pandora, on a suction cup mount, tied into my car stereo!!!

It's awesome. Album art and different channels set up. No idea why anyone would by XM/Sirius.

This and Stitcher Radio for talk/news/etc. covers most of my listening needs.

FStream covers the few others (BBC, Twit.am, my local traffic).

I really don't even need a stereo, just an amp. I've had this stereo for a year and the only channel set in it is the traffic channel.

Same here. Being able to listen to Pandora on the bus was a big reason for me to upgrade from my 1st-gen iPhone. EDGE just didn't cut it. It is a bit annoying that you have to keep the app open, it would be nice to be able to background it.

Also, Peggle.

I can background Pandora on my Pre. It even gives me nice little controls at the bottom of the screen in the notification area if I want them. ;-)

MLB At Bat. Obviously only applies if you're a baseball fan, but if you are, you need this app. It started strong and has gotten better all the time. Already this year they've added live streaming audio for every game at no extra cost, and now they're testing video with 2 random games available live every day.

The only downside isn't the app's fault at all -- it's Apple's. At Bat is the one app that I'd love to be able to run in the background. Having to keep it in the foreground to listen to games gets annoying while I'm on the way home.

I've had my 3GS for just over a week now and building a nice app library. Faves are NY Times, Facebook, LinkedIn, Photogene, flight control and wallet.

I've got to go with OmniFocus and TweetDeck. If you have not checked out TweetDeck on the iPhone or for Mac, do so now! Easily the best Twitter client on either platform.

Might as well plug my new app, Upfront. I made it for me, but friends like the idea, so I decided to sell it. It shows you what's new on TV tonight. No more, no less. No times, no mess.

WikiTap is the best if you need any information. It searches the Wikipedia and comes back with video results too!!

Slacker is better than Pandora in my opinion. WunderRadio is also very good, but pricey.

Forget WunderRadio, or any other radio streamer - get Tuner. It allows you to add the url of any streaming radio station, not just the ones chosen by WunderRadio, AOL etc.

1. Flight Control
2. Blocked
3. High Low Drinking Game (great out at the bars)
4. WunderRadio (good for the gym)

That Seek'n'Spell game looks cool, I will have to check that out.

Beatmaker is my new favorite. It took me a while to finally opt to get it because of its seemingly inflated price, but it's really fun to use and is surprisingly addictive.

- Cycorder (makes me not feel as obligated to upgrade to 3GS)
- Wikipedia (you can look up anything on the go, even when offline! it's compressed to 2GB, which is pretty impressive) nerdy i know
- Instapaper (can catch up reading articles on the bus/subway)
- NFSU (best driving control out of all the racing apps i've tried)
- Beejive IM (IM app with a slick interface = rare)
- Bejeweled (simply addictive, good for killing time)
- TapTap Revenge - Gaga (perfect songs for TTR)
- Tweetie/Birdfeed/Tweetdeck (can't quite decide)

- The app that's made it down into my dock is THINGS by Cultured Code. I couldn't live without it; the combination of Things on Mac and IPhone is simply brilliant for task management.

- Probably the best game for sheer, raw FUN I've owned is Peggle. It's just ridiculous how well-made, fun, and addicting it is.

- If you want to show off the graphics on your shiny new 3GS, you've gotta check out id's Doom: Resurrection and Firemint's Real Racing... They really flex the raw power of the thing - and are a lot of fun, too!

- As many in this thread: Pandora is fantastic. Oh! How I wish I could I could use it in the background. Curse you, Palm Pre!

Does Things only sync with the desktop version of Things, or can it also sync with an online to-do list? If it could, that might persuade me to try it.

It syncs with the desktop client over wifi.

this is the thing about Things that drives me crazy. No cross-platform or web support, and even to a Mac, only over wifi.

Things now supports syncing using Tethering. Quite cool. Only uses the tethering connection, and not data from your data plan.
