The graphics was better than the ones of the Play 2, but the Play 2 had more funny games.
To a point. A game like phantasy star 1&2 online which, fully utilized the console to it's full potential, it was highly seccessfull. The first party wireless wavebird controller was a stroke of genius. But after that, nintendo really let the gamecube fall short. Lack of online support, hard to acquire 480p component cables, none standard disk size(thanks for trying to help panisonic) just to name a few. Oh well, at least it was not Virtual Boy.
I loved the hell out of my GCN, but there were only a handful of games that kept me playing it. SSBM, SSX 3, PSO Ep. 2, Super Monkey Ball, and Naruto 4 (Japanese). The 4 controller ports , in my opinion, is what made the GCN better than the PS2. I never understood why Sony went with 2 ports after N64, Sega Dreamcast, and MS X-Box all went with 4 ports. Unfortunately, Nintendo never got and really good racing games and I'm a HUGE Gran Turismo fan.
Extreme G 3 Racing was really fun and the music is nice. may not be in the standards with GT but a racing game still
It definitely wasn't as successful as the PS2, but I think it definitely had some worthy games on it. My personal favorite was Paper Mario.
The numbers speak for themselves: the Gamecube sold 22 million units, the PS2 over 136 million.
Numbers are one thing, but I still break out the Gamecube games to play on my Wii. In fact, that was one of the big selling points for the Wii is that I could play my Gamecube Games on it. I love playing Smash Bros Melee, RE4, Beyond Good and Evil, Eternal Darkness, Zelda, Sphinx... Those games are still so much fun.
I love my gamecube alot. Maybe i should get it back from the cellar and play on it again.
I liked TimeSplitters 2 and the tony hawk games alot
I got mine mainly for Super Mario Sunshine....that's it.
Super Smash Brothers was the best on this system, i don't even know how many hours i logged in playing just that game.
SSX Tricky, Animal Crossing, Windwaker
ssb is by far the best nintendo game of all time second only to any zelda game they have, it kept you playing for ever because it was nearly impossible to beat and is a great multi player game. i want to get a wii mainly for brawl and mario cart. ngc is my favorite system hands down.
I only want to own the gamecube to add it to my collection. I own a few games for it that I consider classics and I play on the Wii. I also own the Gamecube gameboy player which I want to use to play all the original gameboy games through the gameboy advance games. I absolutely hate the controller though, but I can tolerate the Wavebird. At least its not super tiny. This system is way worse than the Xbox or PS2. The only game I played on my buddys that I loved was Pikmin. This system was way lacking in terms of game developers........
Gamestop and places as such have them for a pretty good price
Melee was THE BEST party game ... I put in money with my friends for a gamecube to keep at her house just so we could play Melee ...
Melee was the best game period. That was the only reason i had bought one in the first place then i discovered other great games.
I love the idea and gameplay/characters of Melee, but everyone on the planet is better at it then me. I got into it late so when we threw it on at parties I would just get annihilated. If we're at my place playing Brawl, at least I'll throw the auto handicap on to keep it interesting. Even that won't keep make sucky players win and good players lose though - it just makes the matches last longer....
