I gave in and pre-ordered this keyboard.

It sounds like they have a similar feel to keyboards with Cherry MX blue switches like on the Das keyboards or the Filco ones, if not the same switch. Combined with the macro keys, the backlighting, USB port, mic and headphone ports, this might be an awesome keyboard. I can't wait to get this in to try it out.

Remember how you said that you need to stop buying mice and keyboards? This isn't helping.

On the other hand, this thing looks good. Simple design and packed with features. Hard to go wrong with that combo.

What can I say? I'm weak... I gave in!

I'm most interested in the noise. Looking around I mostly use scissor-action keyboards even on desktops. I dont think I can go back to PLUNGPLUNGPLUNGPLUNGPLUNGPLUNGPLUNGKERPLUNG!!

I like my Reclusas, but they've seen a hard life and definotely overdue for change - but I'm not convinced the X6 is a direct replacement, I think I can do better. I'm holding off though until there's a decent body of opinions on it.

Apparently the Cherry Blue is Kerplung Central. I think I'll give it a miss.

That it is. You sound like a Cherry MX brown kinda guy. I have those in one of my other keyboards and they're pretty great, tactile, but quiet. Great for not wanting to get on your coworkers nerves. The Das silent has those.

How would you rate these potentially in a comparison with the genuine IBM PS/2 keyboards, if you have any experience of them? Because if it's that level then I couldn't take it.

I haven't used one for years, but the browns are significantly quieter. There's no audible click when you depress the keys. All you hear is the key bottoming out when it hits the base of the keyboard and a slight whoosh when it is pressed, but I wouldn't say they're whisper quiet, but quiet enough to not be annoying. I'm not sure how quiet you'd like the keyboard typing to be, but it's not an annoying level on the MX browns.

They feel extremely nice when typing though. I type faster on the MX brown keyboard I have than I do with my other keyboard I have.

Hmmm. Thanks for that. I'll have to do more research.

I like everything about this keyboard, except I would really miss the left-hand nav area on my Merc: gdgt.com/ideazon/merc/zxp-1000/

I don't know if I could live without that at this point.

Well - the Sidewinder X6 (gdgt.com/microsoft/sidewinder/x6-keyboard/) has a left/right swappable numeric keypad (all the keys are programmable)...?

As gaming keyboards go, it's got a fairly decent key action. Or you could just get something like a N52te.

thinking about reviewing this too. don't know about the desktop styled keys though. I'm pretty happy with my logitech illuminated keyboard...

I can't type well on desktop keys anymore. My fingers have been trained almost from the start on low-profile keys that I just get clumsy with full size ones.
