New Game Sleep Function!

I just read about the new game sleep function and it sounds awesome! "The Game Sleep function allows a player to sleep their game at any point and return to the cross media bar on the PSP to do other things — no saving required." This is all I ever wanted the stupid thing to do! It would always do it for movies! I could stop a UMD movie or a digital movie and play a game, then quit out and pick up where I left off on the movie. But it would never work for the games (game - to movie - back to game) unless the game had that function built in. Dammit, no more reasons to get a PSPgo! Its not fair - I love my PSP-2000 and they keep adding functions to the new model when I don't even know if my UMD games/movies will even carry over!

That's just a good feature that should have been implemented on earlier PSPs. Nice to see them doing a tiny bit of innovating.

That does make me sort of want one, but i'll see what games we can get before i make up my mind.

It's something so simple! I hope the feature does come to the original PSP's as well. I don't want this to get crazy with the PSPgo being a billion times better... One of the best things I read today was how one reviewer loved how portable/light it was that he wanted to toss it up. He said it was a few ounces lighter than an iPhone - about 25% of the weight of the current PSP. He said it felt like nothing in your pocket which is hard for me to imagine for a PSP product.

(I still want some ultrafuturistic Transformers type stuff with a screen that can compress and extend so you can have really big screens that fit in your pocket! The Myvu approach is cool too...)

That would be awesome, if only we had the tech to support it and if it wouldn't break easily.

I really hope they try to keep parity between all versions of the PSP since they decided to keep both lines going and keep the game development the same.

I always loved the feature on the DS. All mobile devices should have it.

Agreed, one system to play almost all of the games post and current.

The DS and PSP have the same sleep function right now. This is new functionality where you can sleep the game, exit to the main menu, and do whatever, or launch a different game thats on the hard drive, then sleep that one.... on and on

...basically sleep a million games and resume them whenever, without actually putting the SYSTEM to sleep!

I think I would love to have a smaller PSP device that fits more easily in my pocket, and has a ton of room for content, and can play games without a UMD, WITHOUT having to hack it. But I'm torn between this and the new lilac PSP, which is my favorite color. Sigh.

Do you own UMDs? That is what is screwing me. I would love the device too if I didn't go all retarded and, you know, buy their games on the only format they were available in!

Sound like though the pricing is going to be comparable with the apple phone games so maybe it won't be to bad.

Really, I hadn't heard that. That would be nice... still though I won't pay a dime for a game I've already payed for... just like with movies...

Prices sound good, but my statement about repaying stands...

Everyone please remember that with all of these digital downloads, you will not be able to get ANY money back - no refunds and no taking it to Gamestop for in-store credit. No selling it to a friend. And lastly no putting up on eBay. I would hope they cost a lot less considering all this but we'll see.......

Well you could market it on ebay with the games, but you would be selling the psp. And i agree with you completely digital download, although the wave of the future, are ultimately going to cost us more in the long run.

lending my buddies games seems to be half the fun, but that will end soon. hopefully, they will incorporate demos into the games that can be shared like in DS/PSP games... even some WiiWare games have the ability to send a demo to a friend..

That would be a great feature, hopefully microstoft and nintendo don't try and completely get rid of physical media like the pspgo is trying.

Sony is either showing us the future or digging its own grave... (or at least the grave for its game division to be less dramatic - they still do a lot of other stuff well....)

That they do, and once this finally comes out we will see what happens.

Man, with the PSPgo and the PS3 Slim, Sony is getting all the love lately!

It's all talk though for now, action is another story...

this new game sleep function will make it worth getting a PSPgo also, I am jealous of that feature and hope it comes to the older ones as a software update..

if they do natal in the micrsoft stores, that will be a real coup and get people in there! I want to mess with it so bad!

You and me both, it may mean a road trip to the big D to see it, unless of course the microsoft stores skips colorado.

I hope they launch it early next year. It will be a huge boon to their business and hopefully counteract that beginning of the year lull in games that is getting so annoying.

Me to, so i guess your not on board the sony fanboy wagon with their glowing wiimotes.

Don't get me wrong - I hope all three systems have great motion controls! More great games for us! I really think that was an early prototype and they will release something that doesn't look so ridiculous in production. I just liked the natal idea and presentation better. It looked like another step whereas the PS3 one looked eerily similar to the Wii MotionPlus presentation....

Again i Agree but i think PS3 version is a step backwards, the motion plus does very close to 1:1 without the use of a camera, the Ps3 incarnation needs the eye toy to track it, and Natal doesn't even need another controller to add, which i think will be the winner only because you won't have to buy 4 or 8 new controllers just to use it for multiplayer.

coologuy1957

so in the end you have a camera, no camera, and a hybrid system... 3 ways to tackle the same problem

also, remember all three require SUBSTANTIAL investment

Wii - 4 Wii-motes + 4 MotionPlus + 4 Nunchuks (yes many games need all 3)

PS3 - 4 PS3motes (lol) + Playstation Eye

Xbox 360 - Natal production version (could end up being most expensive overall depending on how M$ prices it)

don't assume one is way better or way more expensive with using it or knowing the price....

Oh i agree, but i still think that Natal won't be over $100-150. In theory its two cameras and an on board processor. I bet you could make something similar for way less since most single core processor now are less then $30. But i still think that Nata, and i am going to throw in enviromental stuff which i really don't care about but..., doesn't need rechargable batteries, and doesn't need to be manufactured more then once.

And for the PS3, I believe everyone would need two of the PS3motes to be functional.

I was just doing a standard 4 player scenario....

Thats what i mean, i think the PS3 motes need 2 of each to work so 8 total, i could be wrong.

its one remote per person I thought - thats what I gathered from the demo

To do the stuff like archery you need two, and i think for most of their demos you need to, one for each hand.

coologuy1957

man, I don't remember that at all... hopefully they would have them be smarter than the wii system and it just be one set you buy and they communicate via bluetooth. I wish the wiimote and nunchuk communicated wirelessly.

deinfinityx

Yeah that would be nice but i like the cord,, it has kept the nunchuck from flying away a few times. But yeah i think having to buy 8 controllers might not be so affective. I guess we will see what happens next year since Wii has already launched theres.

I liked using my wireless nunchuk except its not sensitive enough for games where you really have to spazz out and flail around like crazy... the cords usually hits me in the face a lot...
