Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection goes dark May 20

If you're a Nintendo DS or Wii owner, and any of your games use online features, I suggest you enjoy one last Mario Kart race, download all the weekly Professor Layton puzzles and wrap up any outstanding Pokémon trades you've got on the Global Trade Station because that's all going away tomorrow.

This doesn't affect the Wii U or 3DS, except when you're playing last-gen games on said systems.

I made sure to get all the weekly puzzles. What online features are you saying goodbye to, even if you haven't used them in a while?

EDIT: Here's a list of affected games - www.nintendo.com/consumer/gameslist/en/games-wifi....

All of a sudden, the Wii Mini makes a lot more sense

I guess May 21st will be the day "wii homebrew" becomes a top search phrase.

Yeah. I imagine if people were setting up their own StreetPass relays, or if you go further back, a way to play Xbox Halo online using the 'system link' feature, there will be someone determined enough to find a way to make it happen

Mine has already been hacked for a while, but I have continued to buy Virtual Console games legit to be fair. Well, now, I guess they are forcing my hand. :/

Wait, the store is going offline? I just assumed it was online multiplayer.

Does this also mean nobody from now on can get that patch for the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword?

It is just the online multiplayer (and other online features) and not the Wii Shop or the DSi Shop.

Oooops, I thought I remembered one of the early reports I read saying that they would lose store access as well. Carry on then, nothing to see here.

It looks like the Wi-Fi Connection is still up. I wonder if it will go dark at midnight ET, or midnight PT, or midnight JST.

(Was checking to make sure I didn't have any Pokémon sitting in the GTS... doesn't look like I do. I also, for some reason, have pretty much no Pokémon in my copy of Pokémon Platinum. It's like they were raptured out... to my copy of Pokémon Diamond.)

That's sad. I just got a DSi, and tried to connect it to a wifi, obviously without it working. I guess I know why...
