Blu-Ray drives are super slow. I don't want/need a Blu-Ray drive in my 360. And it would just fracture the game market. Halo 5 only on Blu-Ray? Well too bad for the 100 million "old" Xbox 360 users, you don't have Blu-Ray...
Microsoft backed HD-DVD, Sony backed Blu-ray... Microsoft lost and won't crawl back as Toshiba did...
M$ has repeatedly said they won't have Blu-ray and they obviously mean it...
thankfully, blu-ray players are cheap now and the PS3 has some amazing games that will never come to Xbox or Wii!
I totally agree that digital movies, like Netflix, are better. But one thing I love about my LG BluRay player is that it does digital movies, local network movies, Netflix, VUDU *AND* Blurays. Basically, it can play any content I want, however I want. I may only watch a few BluRays a year vs. dozens of digitals a month, but it's nice to have the option.
rental blu-ray is still the best visual and audio product... until any of these services equals it, long live blu-ray!!! (especially through rental!!) :)
It has something better, Netflix.
as does PS3 and Wii........
With a lame disc you have to insert...
not for much longer.... they'll both have software solutions soon..
I don't think we'll ever see Blu-ray on an Xbox.
1. It's a Sony backed technology.
2. It would undermine what they're trying to do with their online store.
Nail on the head, they want digital HD movie to take off and Bluray would take them a step backwards in that effort. Larger capacity would be nice for games, but even with bluray the 360 multisystem games still tend to look better.
