Samsung Galaxy S4 S-View Flip Cover - Alarm Clock Problem

Hi guys,

[I have no idea if this topic has been discussed before here or not, if it has, sorry about the repeat.]

Ok, the problem what I am facing here is that I just updated my Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 (Indian Model) to 4.4.2 Android OS via Smasung Kies as it was not showing up through the settings options.

After a long while (3hrs) of downloading (1.2GB or firmware file, very slow internet at my place), everything was updated to my phone, new white colored icons on the status bar and all.

At the moment I was using the flip cover (Company - The Kase, they brand logos or pics on to the back of your case for 45 SIN$) and didn't realize anything odd, as on closing the flip cover the time would Pop Up with the date in the viewing area, plus the calls would come and I could answer or reject via the same area.

The only time I noticed something odd was when my alarm rang and there was no way to swipe to cancel or put it on snooze. First time I thought I must have done or pushed the case slightly off the alignment or something, but it happened the second time the alarm rang, then I realized that something is wrong here and I gently picked up the flip case to see that the swiping area was out of place and currently situated just below the viewing area.

This is only related to the alarm and nothing else so far.

Does anyone having the same problem and if yes have they managed to fix it???

Does anyone know how should I complain about the same to Samsung ???

Please do advice.

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure if a resolution has been giving for this issue. However, I have a Galaxy S5 and was having the same issue. I cleared my cache for my phone and it resolved the issue.

Yes, hold on let me research....

First take your battery and reinsert.

Press Menu + Volume + Power Button at the same time, and as soon as you will do it you will enter Recovery Mode.

Select “Wipe Cache Partition” among rest of the options. Press Power button to select the option and Volume buttons to scroll.

After you do that, select “Reboot Now” option and your Galaxy S4 will be good to go, as your cache will be cleared.

These steps were given to be by Samsung Support and they said it should erase your data on phone. It did not for mine.

Hi,

I'm in Portugal and since I updated the S4 to the 4.4.2 I have the same problem with the flip cover.
Samsung support told me to do a copy of my data and reset the phone, I was trying to prevent to do this.

If any one have a better solution please share! Thanks.

Have yoy tried the reset the phone option as suggested to you via Samsung support?

If yes, has that solved the problem?

Do advice.

Thanks

Yes I did, the problem persists.
It looks like the problem is with the software itself, anyway it works, besides the flip cover "incompatibility".
We could have a little spark of hope that sooner or later Samsung would try to solve this but I don't believe so now they have launched the Samsung S5!

I had just read all the comments and as I also have a samsung galaxy S4(International Version) and a S view flip cover, I decided to check that if the problem exist in my phone also because I Don't Make/Use Alarms, the answer after checking the problem was yes this problem exists in my phone too and I also have upgraded the version.

Although I Don't Need Any Solutions For This Problem But Still I Wouldn't Mind If My Other Friends Get Rescued From This Problem As It Seems A Big Issue For Them Because They Set Alarms Which I Don't.
