What do you think is going to happen tomorrow? Here is what I'm thinking (this information is based on nothing that what I've seen from numerous rumor sites):
One new iPhone released (iPhone 4 goes to a cheaper model, but this isn't a "new" phone).
A5 CPU (potentially underclocked -- though this won't be mentioned in the keynote) w/ 1GB of RAM.
64 GB models (please oh please!)
Same screen size (3.5-inch) though potentially updated body style (thinner!) (I do find it hard to believe that Apple would wait nearly 18 months just to unveil the iPhone 4S / iPhone 5 in the exact same body as the iPhone 4 -- but it's obviously a popular phone and a popular design.)
I predict that Apple will leapfrog Google's voice recognition technology. I think the promotion for the event is a word play of sorts. It reads "Let's Talk iPhone," but I think what they mean is "Let's Talk, iPhone." I believe the iPhone 5 will fully integrate the Siri technology they bought a few years back, and will make the device the most advanced "natural" speech interface.
Very nice prediction. Though, they'll need to do something really great in order to impress me. We have pretty advanced voice capabilities on Android already, yet I never use them unless I want to show off my phone to people.
I think there will 100% be an announcement for a new iPhone, but I'm not sure if it'll be the iPhone 5 or the iPhone 4S or both. Personally, if I had to guess though, I'd say they'd do one or the other, not both. I also hope they talk about new iPods, but it sounds like this is a mostly iPhone focused event so that may not be happening. I guess we'll see tomorrow!
I'm almost positive there will be an iPhone 4S with nearly the same form factor as the iPhone 4 with an 8MP camera (possibly with upgraded flash) and A5 processor (possibly down-clocked from the iPad 2 version to save battery).
I think we'll get an iPhone 5 with a redesigned form factor and larger screen too, because if we waited this long for just a 4S I think everyone would be disappointed (I know I would). Plus there are so many iPhone 5 cases floating around--there's no way manufacturers would start making these if they weren't pretty positive they could sell them.
Clearly the iPhone 5 would have to have some new features to make it worthwhile. Every iPhone upgrade has added new hardware functionality, and the only thing I can think of in that category is NFC. So I'm betting the iPhone 5 gets NFC, as well as exclusive access to the "Assistant" feature we've heard so much about.
That being said, if Apple is trying to push a new payment strategy, (a) it would make sense to put it on both phones so that it catches on faster, and (b) we would have heard about it by now. So I'm gonna say either both phones have NFC or neither does.
Lastly: 4G. We know, as of a few months ago, that Apple has started installing 4G equipment in Apple stores. I'm betting that the iPhone 5 has 4G, and the iPhone 4S does not. That would give people a real reason to buy the 5 over the 4S, without making the 4S seem too "out of date" (ie, apps don't have a new hardware feature to take advantage of).
An anti-climax given the amount of hype and the slight delay to the next iPhone release. New processor and better camera to make a iPhone 4S - not an essential upgrade for people with the iPhone 4. Moving into a pattern of two versions before a major upgrade.
I predict the phone will have a camera that can make pictures super fast, so you never miss a moment. Just take the phone out of your pocket and shoot, no need to start the camera app, just press a button.
hope not... But I just read that Sprint will have an exclusive with the iPhone 5 and it will be a WiMAX device. AT&T and Verizon would launch the iPhone 4S and get the iPhone 5 sometime late in the first quarter of next years as a LTE device. Globally, the iPhone 5 might be available as a 4G HPA+ device.
The reason behind this rumor was Mr. Hesse told the board of Sprint that they would have to agree to purchase at least 30.5 million iPhone over the next four years - a commitment of $20 BILLION at current rates! Hesse's supposed claims whether or not he could find buyers/user for the phones Sprint would be contracted committed.
SPRINT? I hope this is false but sounds possible. After all AT&T and Verizon are a mess when it comes to LTE coverage.
here is what i am expecting
- iPhone 4 becomes the lowend $99 model
- iPhone 4s is the new device
- A5 CPU
- 1 GB RAM
- 32 and 64 GB Models
- Same screen
- 8 MP Camera
- no major body changes
On the software side we the addition of the assistant/siri integration.
I posted what I think we will see. Now here is what I would like to see.
2 new phones an iPhone 4S and an iPhone 5.
Both devices to have the following:
• A5 CPU
• 1 GB RAM
• 32 and 64 GB Models
• 8MP Camera
Now the iPhone 5 will have the larger screen and possibly NFC.
Both devices will support assistant/siri software.
The 4S will be priced at 199 and 299 and the 5 will be priced at 299 and 399.
The 4 will slid into free or 99 dollar slot.
