From what read so far, you can download a game on your PC/PS3 in minutes (seconds??) or on the PSPgo direct in hours... so, um, ya.......
Yeah i bought one. Its great. Games load quicker, no loud UMD drive. My only qualm so far is that new releases should be around 10 dollars cheaper on psn, i just cant justify spending 40 dollars on a download. Thankfully older games are cheap and the media go software works well for getting your games and videos on the device.
Thats one of my major beefs-- games SHOULD be cheaper since there isnt any expensive physical product. Its ridiculous (though I feel the same way about ALL digital downloads).
Did you upgrade then? If so, what about all your UMDs?
these companies that try to maintain "pricing parity" between their hard and soft copies are pretty dumb. Let's see - one product has a physical backup, packaging, shipping, middle-man fees, and all manner of other associated costs. The other has basically digital distribution fees.... so ya, parity this!!!
Yeah, i didnt have any old UMD's i definitely wouldnt upgrade if i did, but i wanted to get into the psp game so i picked it up fresh. Im hoping for some psn exclusive sales, such as how they made alot of games much cheaper then usual, like puzzle quest for 8 bucks.
I can't imagine why they would want to continue making money in retail partnerships while they make higher margins on digital content as well. Maybe it has to do with them being a company and wanting to make money in any and every way possible even if it means screwing over your customers.
maybe absolutely possibly........
I upgraded as well. I love this thing. The hardware is sexy as hell and exactly what I wanted the original PSP to be. I do feel that we are getting jipped out of the price. No box, no disk, no manual and we still pay the same price...should be a $5-10 difference.
All in all I am very happy with my purchase. You need to go out and hold one to really know the difference. The hardware is awesome.
I'm sure the hardware is sweet. Thats deffinitely the "killer app", but the guts just dont do it. Also for $250 they shouldve included the same swag they did with the original PSP- A soft sleeve case, a lanyard and headphones. That might've made it a bit easier to swallow for $250.
But WIFI B? Seriously? And some serious work needs to be done on the web browser.
I can't argue with you on adding more "stuff" to the package...but who in the world used the earbuds that came with the OG PSP? Or the softcase? Maybe the lanyard for the first few weeks until you realized you weren't going to drop the damn thing!
Wifi B has no argument from me. I would have loved G. N is not that widely adopted to see the speed advantage.
The killer app for me is having a "premium" piece of hardware that not everyone can have/wants to have. I don't have to fiddle around with UMD's anymore and it will become my "go to" entertainment machine on the go. The iPhone, with no physical control inputs, just doesn't do it for me.
A reasonable answer. Thanks!
I used the logitech hard case with my PSP-1000, but I went back to the soft case with the 2000 since the hard case was too fat!! I never used the earbuds but I know people that did - people that didn't have any other ones or didn't want to buy them. The wireless B decision simply cannot be defended any more seeing as how many people will download games and media directly to it and will not be pleased with the speeds.... I'm not saying its not a premium product... It just could have been a better done premium product....
It turned out to be a no "Go" for me. Instead my wife got me a Lenovo T400. I'm pretty happy. Ya think?
I'll wait for the Go for Christmas or when the price drops. Just can't justify $250 when the Wii just went to $199 and the PS3 Slim is $299. It just doesn't make sense.
try playing the Wii or PS3 on a DAL-SFO flight! HA! (unless you had the Benheck PS3 laptop!)
Ha ha. Good point, but already having a PSP1000, DSi, and now a sweet laptop, I'll have plenty of entertainment in flight. Not to mention my Sega Nomad and gameboy Micro. I love getting the "what the hell is that" looks when I bust out the Nomad.
ya, I would use all those too - and an ipod!! but I must say I'm super jealous of your Nomad!! I've wanted to add one of those to my collection forever!! :)
lol, my brother had a Nomad way back in the day. That thing was awesome. 8^D
Ok, so more PSPgo owners want to chime in?
I was originally excited about the PSPGo when I first heard of it, but after thinking about it. I decided not to get one. I still have an original PSP, and I never play it anymore. I thought I might play the Go more since I wouldn't have to carry UMDs and the shape of it looks like it would fit my small hands more. (I haven't tried it out, would they have it at Best Buy for me to play with?) But then I thought about how I would have to buy the games again I was turned off. Plus it's almost as pricey as a PS3 slim, which I am adding to my Christmas list.
I don't have a PSP already, so I was honestly thinking of getting the Go, but I've just prioritized so many more things above it on my list. Also, I realized that when it came down to it, I just don't play games as much anymore (I still have one that I haven't started for my PS3 and about 3-4 more that I want to purchase which, along with RB and BeatlesRB should keep me occupied till mid next year honestly).
I bought mine this week in pearl white. The finish on it looks great and the sliding form factor is really nice. I sold my 3000 to get the Go since I have so few UMD's anyway and found myself buying more and more games off the PSN. I do wish the prices were lower on some games, but that's to be expected. Overall, I am happy with the purchase. I didn't pay the whole $250 for it though. I just look around on ebay and found a new one for $180. :) Good deal, I guess.
