The Entire thing about Windows 8

Okay! Here I go off about Windows 8!

I bought my laptop in June and they said when I bought it that I would be able to Upgrade my laptop to Windows 8 for $14.99. so I did it. When Windows 8 came out everyone said that it's a great Operating System, so i decided to upgrade my laptop. When i first upgraded it was so annoying, because there is no start button, so i got so frustrated, but i was able to find a way to get a start button and then everything was getting much easier. One day my laptop started getting very very slow, so I had to call up my laptop company for them to try to help me fix it which they weren't able to fix it over the phone. And then all of the sudden all of my information was getting lost and not working, so i called the company back and had to get all the way up to a case manager which i was hoping for them to get me a new laptop, because it was the second time my laptop was broken in the summer. But the case manager was telling me that i have to downgrade to Windows 7, so i had to get my recovery discs and start doing it, but it stopped in the middle of doing it, so i called my case manager tells me that i have to send my laptop in for repair. Oh and then he tells me that my computer wasn't made for Windows 8 which i told him that it was, because that was part of the package when i bought my laptop in June.

Basically what i'm trying to say is that Windows 8 SUCKS AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!!!!! Windows 8 is really meant for a tablet and a touchscreen computer/laptop. NO ONE SHOULD BUY WINDOWS 8!!!!!!!!

Wow. Sounds like you had a bad experience there. Sorry for your laptop issues. From what you complain about it seems that where you bought your laptop sold you something that they shouldn't have. That sucks. If I were you I would quit shopping there for technology products.

I have to disagree with you about Windows 8 though. I've had no problems using it as the main OS on my desktop without a touchscreen. It's fast and stable. I'll admit the lack of a Start button takes a bit of getting used to. What I did was start using the Metro screen as my start button. My most used apps are there in categories and it scrolls extremely well with my mouse. In fact the Windows button on my keyboard, which used to open the start button, opens the Metro screen. I would recommend that if you are a Windows user you try Windows 8 again on a different laptop.

No, I bought Windows 8 Pro and installed it myself on my desktop. I do not own a laptop.

It takes some getting used to at first. The biggest thing is that the desktop is now an app instead of where the system starts. I don't find it hard to navigate the Metro screen at all without touch. The scroll works extremely well, as does the grab and flick to close apps. I think Microsoft did a good job at combining the past with the future with Windows 8. Hell, I can still install and play Diablo 2 and other programs that are from Windows XP.

i agree with this Joel.

really there was a bit of a learning curve, but it was also that way when I moved from DOS to windows 95 ;)

Now that I am fluent on Windows 8 I like it for what it is.

It amazes me that Microsoft is so good at backwards compatibility. I'm sure programs written for Windows 95 will still run on Windows 8! I think that's an overlooked point in the tech press which likes to look forward and seems to throw away the past.

That particular feature is one that I make constant use of. Their entire compatibility mode setup is quite effective.
