I think they will especially with project dark or black on the horizon and no info on it. From my standpoint it seems like they are doing everything right, their super 3G at 21mbps which trumps Sprints Wi-Max, and if the rumors of a $50 everything plan come into play, they will be the telecom to contend with.
I agree man. It's gonna take a big push to get people's perception of t-mo as the "sidekick" (no pun intented :) of carriers to the "iphone" so to speak. Sometimes people view them as the kiddish carrier, don't take them seriously. If project dark is what people rumor it to be with that phone. It's over with.
There's been talk about the HD2 going to T-Mobile UK. Any reason that would lead you to believe this isn't a box from the UK branch of T-Mobile?
They have different logo's i believe and the one in the picture is the US one.
Acually, I don't think that they do. I do, however, they do have different slogans I think. T-Mobile US has "Stick Together" and UK has "Life's For Sharing". That counts for something I guess.
Yeah that may be it, I am still excited though maybe since i already use Tmo so for me to get this phone will work out great since i get an upgrade in the spring.
If I'm not mistaken though, doesn't T-Mobile have pretty scarce 3G? I feel like having this phone and many others they have managed to acquire that sort of beg to be used for data services are not being used to their full potential on this network.
Not to hate on T-Mobile or anything.
It is definitely less then any one else but I have 3G where i live so its a null point for me even though i never use it, wifi is so much faster and i get it everywhere i go, and if i don't have wifi edge works fine not as fast but fast enough for me.
Also, what's with the mouse cursor at the bottom. Picture of a picture on a monitor?
for all ANYONE knows this is fake. could it be real? absolutely. this is all speculation. tmo is launching their 3g in markets almost daily. I follow them on twitter and on an almost daily visit they'll announce that different cities are now 3g and there is an article you can read about how they're speeding up the process to start dropping their 21mbps network along with everyone's 4g launches. It'll be interesting to see how they play it and how people take them with this.
And i think the real kicker is that unless i can be proven wrong, their 21mbps 3G only needs a software update to run so in theory all current 3G phones will be able to use it since they are not changing anything.
if that's the case then it's ON!
Well there seems to be a lot of speculation around that, but from what i can tell they are not implementing new bands or maybe they are they are so far quite on this, but if they don't implement any new bands then the 21mbps will be on the 1700 band which all their 3G phones use.
"But to take advantage of those increased speeds offered by HSPA+, consumers will have to upgrade their handsets and laptop cards." From what I linked to above. This is generic not AT&T specific nor in this section related to there new spectrum. Besides the G1 and other hardware only supports up to 7.2 HSPA.
Well that is true, but again really only a software limitation since the research i did shows that the 1700mhz band can support 21mbps so in theory and this is all speculation and i am not trying to prove a point but a simple OTA update from Tmobile or HTC could open up the possibility of the current 3G phones to the higher speeds. Since almost all information on this is speculative anyway there is no way to tell until they start rolling out the HSPA+ which i stil think and hope works with all 3G phones.
If this comes out for T-Mob, I'm ditching my applephone for this baby.
Really? For a windows mobile 6.5 phone?
Does it really matter, there is really no biased here and although winmo so far has not shown what it can do this phone is going to be a beast regardless. It is going to have the best specs, tether whatever you want right out of the box, and it is almost better spec'd then my first laptop so i for one am going to buy one even though i am not a fan of winmo just because its a beast of a phone and possibly coming to tmo. Plus the xda will probably figure out a way to boot android from this in like a month.
Why NOT replace the iPhone? This has a bigger, higher res screen for better media viewing, and HTC has done a LOT with the Sense UI, to the point where you almost NEVER see the underlying WM 6.5 interface, according to those who've had a chance to play with it, though with a 4.3" screen, it should be easy to hit those formerly small icons (though I don't have an issue being stylus free on my QVGA HTC Touch).
Heck, even the guys from engadget spent half a podcast just talking about how much they liked the HD2.
Regardless, the only smartphones I'm interested in going forward are ones that use the Sense UI (WM or Android), because I've used them all, and HTC makes, hands down, the best mobile phone interface I've ever used.
The $50 plan sounds really interesting. Paying any more than $70/month for cell phone service seems ludicrous to me. I can compromise on coverage for a good price so this might be a good option.
This phone will delay the purchase of all Windows 6.5 phones until it's released in the United States. Purchasing any other Windows phone just won't make sense.
agreed! i wish the would officially announce it.
A 480x800 4.3" capacitive touch screen? Drool!
That would be an amazing mobile screen to have in your pocket :)
I really like the design of this device as well. Sleek and slim. The physical buttons are small yet still intuitive and the bezel is very slim which highlights the huge display. I still want to see a device that is all display on the front without any physical buttons. I would def want android on this guy though maybe even winmo 7 down the road.
