Hmm, I just noticed at certain stations, there is a slight pause and fade-in effect happening. Is this because the 5D Mk II can only record a certain amount of video at a time before the sensor overheats (I could be totally wrong)?

Or does the HD video burn through a 16GB CompactFlash card that fast? I guess that wouldn't be surprising.

• 1920 x 1080 (16:9) up to 12 mins (Quicktime 1080p H.264; 38.6 Mbits/sec)
• 640 x 480 (4:3) up to 24 mins (Quicktime 480p H.264; 17.3 Mbits/sec)
• Max file size 4 GB

so almost 5 MB/s at HD or just over 2 MB/s at SD.

Hi Dave -

I stopped the video at each station, as the train stands at the platform for over a minute, so the film is actually comprised of 9 separate videos. On reflection, I probably shouldn't have put any transitions in...

There's actually a train swapover at the first underground station. From start to there filled up an 8GB CF card. Train pulled out, and I got the "card full" message. Got off at the next station, went back, bought another couple of cards at the mall, and then continued :)

16GB would be more than sufficient for that journey, but there is a 4GB file limit.

Regards,

Gerald.

Hmm.. Just made a four minute version of this without transitions, and it's definitely better without them!

CNN have picked this up -

New version on YouTube - slightly longer, more appropriate music, and no transitions -

Makes me want this camera even more. Great video. The underground section was hypnotic.

CNN tell me that, in terms of views and shares, they believe this is now the fastest growing video they've ever had on iReport.

For anyone who catches the interview over the weekend, I'd just like to point out that in the video due to be shown on TV and the website, my identity has been stolen by someone who is clearly fatter, balder, and more boring than I ever have been.
